The car Johnny and Madeline drive in Mexico--and eventually push into a ditch--is a 1940 Buick Limited Phaeton (series 81C). MSRP at the time was $1,954 ($28,700 in 2016). In fully restored condition, this car could be easily fetch six figures in 2016.
After the original 1950 copyright lapsed in the 1970s, the film was considered to be in the public domain, and found its way into the inventory of countless independent videotape and DVD distributors.
