The Fuller Brush Co. approved this picture after it was made clear that Jones was an independent dealer and not an employee of the firm.
The warehouse at the dock (exteriors, at least) was the El Monte Legion Stadium---originally the El Monte (CA) Union High School gymnasium, built in 1927. The stadium (interior) also served for televised wrestling matches, Roller Derby, and Cliffie Stone's "Hometown Jamboree" (with '50's C&W stars such as Tennessee Ernie Ford, Molly Bee (I) and others). Los Angeles disk jockey, Art Laboe, brought well-known R&R performers for dances/concerts through the '60s. The stadium was demolished in 1974.
The Fuller Brush Co., was founded in 1906 by Alfred Fuller in Hartford, CT. It was one of the largest firms that relied entirely on door-to-door sales. Starting in the 1980s, when there were fewer women at home during the day, the company started catalog sales and opened a few stores. The company was sold to Sara Lee in 1968 and has changed hands a few times since, but as of 2021 is still in business.
The movie features a scene where Red Skelton stops at the home of Junior, the Mean Widdle Kid, a popular character played by Red Skelton himself on his weekly radio series. In the movie, Junior is played by child actor Jimmy Hunt. His grandmother is played by Verna Felton, who also played Junior's grandmother on Skelton's radio show.
Just before the climactic chase sequence, a scene shows three women listening to a radio. The announcer says, "And now, celebrated fashion designer Jean Louis will give us his opinion on the new, longer dresses". Jean-Louis (I) was the costume designer for this film.
