In 1948, a real-life Matt Davis who lived at Father Dunne's home for newsboys in the period depicted in the film unsuccessfully sued RKO, claiming that Darryl Hickman's character falsely portrayed him as a juvenile delinquent who killed a police officer.
Commercially released on VHS by Turner Home Entertainment, but never on DVD.
