One of the most successful national films in Portugal: it was shown for 26 weeks at Cinema Trindade in Lisbon.

The four Lisbon queens who get a collective screen credit, are four girls presented in dialogue as: Arlete Mendes Ventura, the Lisboa Eterna; Maria Josefa de Ovar, the Lisboa Primitiva; Otília Correia Maia, the Raínha Brigantina; and Maria Laura Fernandes Costa, the Raínha Pombalina. They "won" prizes at an event sponsored by the newspaper 'Diário de Notícias' - a sponsor of the movie - and the competition did not exist, it was padding for the poor dialogue of the movie.

Amália Rodrigues was present at the Porto premiere (Coliseu, November 28, 1947) but declined to sing after the show as the audience claimed for it; the film was shown at this large capacity auditorium to sellout houses for several consecutive weeks. The Lisbon premiere (Teatro Trindade, , February 16, 1948) also in a sellout house, was followed by a live performance of the singer, as the Distributor had already made arrangements for that.
