It's a romantic story and study in the very risky enterprise of counter espionage around the Gibraltar, when English and Italian agent divers mount explosives in each other's war ships, why at the same time they hunt each other, using sink bombs against the divers. Sandra Milo is a beautiful blonde who sails alone in the seas, she enters the harbour of Algeciras opposite Gibraltar, and is in love with one of the Italian divers, who risks his life and comes off rather badly at times. They plan a better life together when the war is over, but first he has to do his job, and she its able to be of assistance with her good contacts with among others the Italian consul (Vittorio de Sica) who helps her, so they work together. This film is in black and white which is a pity, because of the very beautiful settings, and the director Francesco de Robertis seems to have learned from this, for he never made a film in black and white again. The film is beautiful and exciting, but that is about all. It is worth watching for the beautiful Sandra Milo and the very courteous Vittorio de Sica.
