No. Revenge of the Creature was filmed from a screenplay by Martin Berkeley based on a story by producer William Alland, who also produced the first movie.
Two divers, George Johnson (Robert B. Williams) and Joe Hayes (John Bromfield) from the Ocean Harbor Oceanarium, return to the Black Lagoon in order to capture the Gill Man and transport him to Florida to be placed on display. Animal psychologist Clete Ferguson (John Agar) and ichthyology student Helen Dobson (Lori Nelson) are assigned to study the creature. When Gill Man falls in love with Helen and breaks out of his tank to carry her off, a full scale 'creature hunt' ensues.
There are three movies in the Creature series: The first was Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) (1954), followed by Revenge of the Creature. The third movie is The Creature Walks Among Us (1956) (1956). A remake of the first film, also called Creature from the Black Lagoon, is currently in development. No release date has been set.
Yes. Lucas (Nestor Paiva), the captain of the Rita, returns as does Ricou Browning, who played the Gill Man in the water. The Gill Man on land, played by Ben Chapman in the first movie, is played by Tom Hennesy in this movie. None of the other characters (or actors) from The Creature from the Black Lagoon return in this movie.
Yes. Clint Eastwood plays a lab technician named Jennings who is looking for a lab rat. The rat eventually shows up in the pocket of Jennings' lab coat. Eastwood was about 24 years old at the time.
Helen and Cleet decide to take a boat trip up the St Johns River to Jacksonville so that they can spend their last day together before Cleet has to return to the University. They are unaware that the Gill Man is following them. When they reach Jacksonville, they go dining and dancing at the Lobster House, situated on a pier beside the river. As they're enjoying the jazz band, Gill Man bursts into the restaurant, grabs Helen, and carries her into the water. Helen tries to escape by climbing onto a marker buoy, but the creature pulls her back into the water. Cleet swims out to the buoy, but Helen is no longer there. The police have been alerted, and they begin combing the area. Two men find Helen lying on the beach at Point Diego, but before they can alert anyone, the Gill Man attacks them and carries Helen off again. When they find the bodies of the two men, the police concentrate their search around the Point Diego area. They find Helen lying on the beach, having been deposited there by the creature so that he could return to the water to get back his strength. Unfortunately, the Gill Man returns, picks up Helen, and starts carrying her back into the water. Having been alerted by a flare, Cleet arrives. He runs toward the creature, yelling, Stop! Stop!' The creature puts down Helen, and the police open fire on him. In the final scene, as Helen and Cleet hug each other, the Gill Man can be seen floating lifelessly.
