Below average, very stiff and slow adaptation of the fairy tale with an unconvincing cat, and dull acting. It all looks more like theater done in the open air than cinema; on quite some moments the film comes to a complete stand-still. I know that I can not judge this children's film like a child, but I think children of this day and age will be taken with this cat.
I grew up watching this movie every summer at my grandmother's house. It's a childhood staple for me. Yes, it's corny and highly unbelievable, but that's the whole point. I will always love this movie.
