This is the only Donald Duck cartoon where Donald Duck accidentally used profanity and used the word "Bitch" once. However in the Walt Disney Treasures Donald Duck Volume 4, the English subtitles use the word "Brat". It's unknown how it got past the Hays Code censorship going on during the censorship era.
The title is based on the a line from the poem Hudibras, a mock heroic narrative poem from the 17th century written by Samuel Butler. "Then spare the rod and spoil the child".
