This was one of the rare leading roles offered to Lundigan under his long-term Warner Brothers contract. Most of his assignments were supporting roles alongside such better known Warner names as Erroll Flynn and Olivia de Havilland.
The play opened in New York City, New York, USA on 27 November 1923 and had 159 performances. The opening night cast included Morris Ankrum and Claude King.
The clock in Vantine's house was also used in Midnight Alibi (1934), where it played an important part in the plot .
George Campeau (Clerk) and Creighton Hale (Ship passenger) were in studio records/casting call lists for those roles but do not appear in the movie. Louis Natheaux (Theophile Daurelle) is barely seen with his back to the camera as he stumbles in a dark room; his face is never shown.
