The film was shot (in Cinecittà) with both Italian and Spanish actors, all appearing in both versions. All Spanish actors are dubbed in the Italian version and vice-versa. The Italian version was released in Italy in March 1940. The Spanish version of the film, known as "El hombre de la Legión" was released in Spain in June 1941.
