The movie was supposed to star Louis Jouvet, Raimu and Michel Simon in the three main roles. Due to Raimu opting out of the movie, there was a big shuffle in the cast and both Jouvet and Simon changed parts. The cast was then completed by Victor Francen.
This film's earliest documented USA telecast took place in New York City Wednesday 20 March 1940 on pioneer, still experimental WX2BS, which would not attain full time commercial identity until 29 June 1941 as WNBT (Channel 1). Post WW-II televiewers first got a chance to take a look at in in Cincinnati Saturday 15 October 1949 on WKRC (Channel 11).
