According to Leonard Maltin and Richard W. Bann in their 1992 "Little Rascals" book, MGM Television, in at least two known cases (most likely before United Artists Television assumed syndication duties in 1976), was inexplicably unable to supply 16mm prints of "Practical Jokers" to local TV stations holding the rights to air the Our Gang series, despite the film's plot outline being delineated in the contract. Once Turner Entertainment Co. assumed syndication of "Our Gang" in 1986, this problem was rectified.
When Tommy Bond originally played in Our Gang in 1933-1934, he was known as Tommy, a member if the gang. When he came back in 1937, he was cast as Butch, the gang's nemesis. In this short Butch has a birthday, and the cake box is addressed to Tommy "Butch" Bond, 216 Camden Street. His mother calls him Tommy, and the cake says Happy Birthday Tommy.
