Union Spy Wild Bill Hickok (
George Houston), and his trusted aides, Whiney Roberts (
Al St. John) and Steve Norris (
Dave O'Brien), are entrusted by General U. S. Grant (
Jack C. Smith with a message that counteracts a planned Confederate attack which might have delayed the end of the Civil War. After the war, Bill is invited by Steve to become his partner in a cattle-shipping depot at the Kansas end of a new railroad. He declines. A few years later, Steve and his partner are facing bankruptcy because a gang of desperadoes have blockaded the main pass from Texas to the depot, and are charging ten dollars a head to allow the cattle to pass. A new United States Marshal and his pal are sent to investigate, and turn out to be Wild Bill and Whiney Roberts.
