Elmer's speaking voice was provided by Mel Blanc. His singing voice was provided by Roy Rogers and additional vocals in the cartoon were done by the Sons of the Pioneers.
The name on the Egghead-like Elmer Prototype's scooter is "Elmer Fudd, Peacekeeper". This is the first instance of that name in a Warner Bros. cartoon; it would eventually belong to the character that character evolves into.
The caricature of the slow moving, sweet singing, ever feuding mountain folk was popular in entertainment of the time. It would continue into the 1960's, where a proliferation of rural themed TV shows would fill the networks.
The call letters on the radio microphone (KFWB) are a nod to Warner Brothers.
This film spoofs Douglas Corrigan, better known as Wrong-Way Corrigan. An unseen character (voiced by Mel Blanc) hiding in a McCoy's cellar, announces himself: "My name is Non-Stop Corrigan. I thought I was headed for Los Angeles. It was a mistake. My compass broke. Honest."
