At one point, Porky's gun stops shooting and Daffy asks if he's out of ammunition. When Porky confirms this, Daffy waves his arms and shouts "Praise the Lord!" This is a reference to the 1942 Frank Loesser song "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition."
Daffy mimics Gallic thespian Charles Boyer, who would also be the inspiration for fellow cast mate Pepe Le Pew.
Porky has black tipped cloven hooves here, unlike later versions which lack the split toe.
The title blends the Marx Brothers movie "Duck Soup" and the old expression "from soup to nuts," meaning a wide variety of topics.
The first time the "I haven't got bumps on my head" phrenology gag is used. It is used again in Bowery Bugs (1949).
