At one point, Jerry notes that he's about to go into the army. Don Porter, who plays Jerry, had actually been drafted and was given a brief delay to finish the picture.
When Tommy comes home, Sheila rushes to hug him and trips on the carpet. It's clear from the actors' reactions that this was not intentional, and Bobby Jordan quickly ad-libs, "I been meaning to fix that rug." Given the hasty production schedule, there was likely no time to re-shoot, so it was left in and the end of the film was then slightly rewritten to show off the "new" rug.
Billy Halop and Bernard Punsly, usually members of the gang, were not in this picture because they had been drafted into the army. Huntz Hall, for the first and only time in his career with the gang, received top billing.
Bobby Jordan returned to the cast after a couple years at Monogram's competing East Side Kids series, replacing Billy Halop as gang leader Tommy. Norman Abbott (Bud Abbott's nephew) joins the cast as Ape, replacing Bernard Punsly.
