The plot and scenes of this 1942 movie are identical to the Hopalong Cassidy film Rustlers' Valley (1937). The follows the original one almost word for word and step for step. The character names are changed, but their vocation and role in the story are the same (banker, lawyer, etc.). In the 1937 movie Windy (George 'Gabby' Hayes) and Lucky (Russell Hayden) were Hoppy's sidekicks.
George Reeves included this film among his credits in publicity material, and he made several other films in this series around the same time. However, he is not credited and close examination of the film shows no sign of him.

Originally produced by' Harry Pop Sherman' for Paramount Pictures distribution, this film was sold to United Artists for release.
This is one of 54 Hopalong Cassidy features produced by Harry Sherman, initially distributed by Paramount Pictures from 1935-41, and then by United Artists 1942-44, which were purchased by their star William Boyd for nationally syndicated television presentation beginning in 1948 and continuing thereafter for many years, as a result of their phenomenal success. Each feature was re-edited to 54 minutes so as to comfortably fit into a 60-minute time slot, with six minutes for commercials. It was not until 50 years later that, with the cooperation of Boyd's wife Grace Bradley that they were finally restored to their original length with their original opening and closing credits intact.
