As Chubby fantasizes about Miss Crabtree while reading lines from adult love letters, he is seen in front of a movie theatre kissing a life-size publicity cutout of Greta Garbo (a publicity photo that looks like the iconic poses of Garbo and John Gilbert from "A Woman of Affairs" (1928)). At the left of the screen, the edge of a movie poster can be seen, though it is from a different film: "The Girl in the Show" (1929), starring Bessie Love and Raymond Hackett.
The verbal introduction of three shorts, Teacher's Pet (1930), School's Out (1930) & Love Business (1930) by blonde-haired girls matched the casting of light-haired Jackie Cooper, and June Marlowe as the group's new teacher, Miss. Crabtree (wearing a blonde wig).
The opening of this story has Jack reading one of his mother's old love letters, dated 1910 with an envelope addressed to Miss May Wallace (the actual name of the actor playing his mother), 2346 W. 28th St., Los Angeles Cal. This is a non-existent address (at least as of 2019), as West 28th in Los Angeles ends at 2298, then picks up again at the corner of Chico Street for the 3800 block.
The date of release of 1931's Valentine' Day was Saturday, February 14th, 1931. It was one day after superstition day to some, "Friday, the 13th."
