Among the songs cut from the version which presently survives in in the Warner Bros. library, and which is occasionally shown on Turner Classic Movies, is What Would I Care, sung by Bernice Claire and Jack Whiting at the end of reel five, which is "missing in action".

In September 1928, Warner Bros. Pictures purchased a majority interest in First National Pictures, and from that point on, all "First National" productions actually were made under Warner Bros. control, even though the two companies continued to retain separate identities until the mid-1930s, after which "A Warner Bros.-First National Picture" often was used.

Originally produced as a full musical. However, by the latter half of 1930, American audiences were rejecting musicals, so Warner Bros. cut most of the music and this is the version that survives. The original picture was released outside of the U.S., but no prints are known to exist. However, the complete soundtrack of the "international" version survives on Vitaphone disks at the UCLA Film and Television Archive.
