- TriviaIn September 1928, Warner Bros. Pictures purchased a majority interest in First National Pictures and from that point on, all "First National" productions were actually made under Warner Bros. control, even though the two companies continued to retain separate identities until the mid-1930's, after which time "A Warner Bros.-First National Picture" was often used.

This is a an early sound film by Warner Brothers, and it is more common than not for early WB talking films to be lost. In this case neither the Vitaphone discs nor the film are known to exist. It is a story of two young society people in love (Jack Mulhall and Lila Lee), a gruesome murder that was predicted by a note, a bunch of other crimes predicted by other such notes,a ring of blackmailers, a kidnapping, and a rescue involving.... a U.S. navy submarine???
Warner Brothers was just a poverty row studio until The Jazz Singer was released in 1927, and then their output for the next four years showed definite growing pains. It would be nice to still have this around so we could judge the acting and direction. This film's story was incorporated into the 1939 Torchy Blane series entry "Torchy Blane in Chinatown" starring Glenda Farrell. I am not rating this film since it no longer exists and thus it is impossible to do so.
