Allan Lane, before he became B-western hero Allan "Rocky" Lane had an all too brief career as a very likable leading man( Panama Lady, Crime Ring, etc.) In this very economical little drama he plays an honest, upright champion boxer who is forced into betraying a promise to his newlywed wife that he would quit the ring. It seems her father is about to go bottoms up in the stock market crash and "the Duke" can save him by winning enough money if he defends his championship in one more bout. Crooked backers of his challenger want to ensure that he will take a fall. They hold his wife and son hostage during the bout. And there's a gunman in the stands with a bead on him if he refuses! Lane, as usual, is very good in this and the hour's viewing will be well spent.
