Drop Dead Diva continues its second life in style and reassurance now that Lifetime has ordered the dramedy for a sixth season. If you haven’t been paying attention to Diva’s life story over the past year, then you’ve missed out on quite the interesting tale of life, death and rebirth. Last year, Lifetime made the tough decision to cancel Diva, but then reversed its decision in March, when it ordered a fifth season, which is set to finish its run on Nov. 3. The show’s return to life was due to a Sony TV producer who came up with a new financial model that was just what Lifetime was looking for.
Sony TV is especially well known for doing everything in its power to keep its shows on the air. I’ve watched them fight grim battles to keep the likes of Community, Breaking Bad and Happy Endings on the air.

New York -- Taylor Swift's new album is called "Red," but its true color is a brilliant platinum. The 22-year-old sold 1.2 million copies of her latest album in its first week – the largest sales week for any album in a decade.
Nielsen SoundScan confirmed the blockbuster sales on Tuesday night. "Red" marks Swift's second straight album to sell more than 1 million copies in its first week; "Speak Now," her third album, sold a little over 1 million copies when it was released in 2010. She is the only woman to have two albums sell more than 1 million copies in its first week.
"They just told me Red sold 1.2 million albums first week. How is this real life?! You are Unreal. I love you so much. Thanks a million ;)," Swift tweeted Tuesday night.
The only other act to sell more than 1 million copies of an album in its debut week twice was `N Sync.

“No CGI can match what Vic can accomplish.” –Steven Spielberg
That quote is from the introduction to The True Adventures of the World’s Greatest Stuntman. Spielberg is talking about Vic Armstrong, and trust me when I say you Do know him. He’s been stunt doubles for James Bond, Superman and Indiana Jones. He’s directed action scene in Bond movies, Mission Impossible 3 and the recent Thor blockbuster. You can see his work this summer in The Amazing Spider-Man too! This is a great look at the industry; Vic Armstrong’s memories are page turners.
He’s been part of the business for over 40 years and in that time played the most iconic on screen heroes. Harrison Ford joked (image above), “If you learn to talk I’m in deep trouble.” That says it all about his ability don’t you think? He’s got a lot of amazing stories to tell you,...

Ann Dvorak The name Ann Dvorak wouldn't ring even a faint bell for most people around at the beginning of the 21st century. Most people, I said — but definitely not everyone. [Ann Dvorak Movie Schedule on Turner Classic Movies.] A while back, author James Robert Parish heard a loud gong when I told him during lunch at a West Hollywood restaurant that I had been working on a q&a with collector-turned-biographer Christina Rice (right), who has been writing Ann Dvorak's life story. "I love Ann Dvorak! I still remember her in I Was an American Spy, when the Japanese villains stick a hose down her throat. I never forgot that!" I haven't watched I Was an American Spy (it will be on TCM at 11 p.m. tonight), but I remember being impressed by Ann Dvorak's work in Mervyn LeRoy's hard-hitting 1932 melodrama Three on a Match, in which she plays a beautiful woman whose life is destroyed by ambition,...

Attention Jared Padalecki fans. We have news. The Next Movie site has recently become enamored with CW network’s Supernatural Star. Why? Well, you see, they ran a little contest. The open poll was called TV Stars We Wanna See Become Movie Stars. Included in the list of choices were Community‘s funnyman Donald Glover, Chuck‘s hottie Yvonne Strahovski, Glee‘s songstress Lea Michelle, and sultry Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev. Who won? With just over a majority of the vote, it was Padalecki!
“I guess the reason so many people voted is because ‘Supernatural’ has such a rabid following,” Padalecki explains. “They’re really supportive of me. I wouldn’t have that following if it weren’t for ‘Supernatural.’”
“Thanks a million,” he tells fans. “That makes me feel really good, really flattered. I don’t know what to say, that’s huge. Really cool.”
Because so many obviously want it,...

When we nominated 10 up-and-comers in our TV Stars We Wanna See Become Movie Stars poll, we weren't expecting the deluge of support from fans of "Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki. But after talking to Padalecki -- the winner of the poll with a remarkable 51 percent of the votes -- we realize that... maybe we should have.

In honor of the big win, NextMovie talked to Padalecki about his Hollywood plans and more.
If you do make the jump to movies, are there any roles you're shooting for?
I want to do everything.

This Christmas, I did something I’ve never done before.
I called in sick.
I know that sounds weird, but hear me out. The plan was I would spend Christmas morning with my mother, then drive her to the airport around one o’clock, then drive to Northern New Jersey to spend the evening with my dad’s family. My dad, who lives in Florida, wasn’t going to be there, but all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as my ne’er-do-well brother, would be in attendance.
I guess I love my family in that compulsory way you kind of have to, but they’re pretty Christ-y, and while in theory they’re okay with my being gay, it’s understood that my relationships are a verboten topic of discussion, and I’m expected to sit quietly and say nothing when the topic of -- and I...

'That wasn't a stage move or clumsiness— that was me blacking out,' Corgan tweeted after Tampa, Florida, show.

If Billy Corgan falls on a stage in South Florida, and no one notices, does he make a sound?
It's an existential question, to be sure, but a valid one. Especially after what took place during a Smashing Pumpkins' concert on Wednesday (July 21) night in Tampa, Florida, when Corgan collapsed on stage while performing "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and seemingly no one — at least not anyone reviewing the show — seemed to notice.
In fact, it wasn't until the following morning, when Corgan took to his Twitter account to address the incident, that anyone began reporting on his spill, which he attributed to "blacking out."

While many gamers speculated that Heavy Rain would not be a commercially viable title, claiming that David Cage’s latest game was merely an interactive movie -- we now have official proof of the contrary.
Heavy Rain has sold over a million copies worldwide!
In honor of the milestone, Sony released a new Heavy Rain trailer entitled “Thanks a Million”.
Make sure to check out the video after the jump:
Despite the sales numbers, you might still think it’s been a quiet month for Heavy Rain; however, there’sbeen quite a bit going on over at Quantic Dream. The developer opened “The Taxidermist” Dlc up to players who had a cool $4.99 to spend and didn’t get a chance to pre-order the title.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that the game will receive a patch adding PlayStation Move support this Fall. The notion had been hinted at by Cage...
