The shark thriller film “Zipline” has launched sales with a cast that includes Ioan Gruffudd, Ross Butler, Holland Roden and Sonia Ammar.

The feature is written by George Mahaffey Jr. and directed by Magnus Martens. Simple House Films is producing, marking the debut project under that production banner. Black Bear owns the international rights to the film.

Ric taunted Sonny over Kristina’s (Kate Mansi) troubles and how they could affect the outcome of the custody case. Sonny fought back by scorning his brother for turning Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) in and not being in Molly’s (Kristen Vaganos) life.

As the brothers argued over their failed parenting, with Sonny reminding Ric he’s been an absent father and Ric accusing Sonny of coddling Kristina, Sonny finally realized what this was all really about.

Exclusive: Following her breakout role as Shin Hati in the hit Star Wars series Ahsoka, Ivanna Sakhno has found her next big role. Sources tell Deadline she has landed a major part in M3GAN 2.0, a sequel to the hit film from Atomic Monster and Blumhouse in association with Divide/Conquer.

She joins a cast that includes Allison Williams and Violet McGraw.

Plot details on M3GAN 2.0 are unknown, but the original film revolves around a life-like AI doll that is programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Williams), M3GAN can listen, watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to. That film would go on to make $180 million worldwide on a $12 million budget, with a sequel quickly going into development.

Commissioned by France Télévisions, Zdf and Rai, “The Emperor’s Stone: The Search of La Buse’s Treasure” won the call for projects launched in 2022 by the Alliance. All editions of The Reunion broadcast since 2003, including some episodes that haven’t previously been available in digital form, are on BBC Sounds. This comes as the BBC Radio 4 programme celebrates its 200th edition and the latest series launches on the station this Sunday, 13 August. A special 200th anniversary episode will be broadcast on 3 September, featuring an on stage gathering of the cast, crew and creatives behind the TV satirical show Spitting Image.

“Sherlock” star Amanda Abbington has been tapped to appear in Ludovica Musumeci debut feature, “To the Girl I Once Knew.”

The film, which Musumeci writes and directs, has also cast Amelia Eve (“The Haunting of Bly Manor”) and Stella Lelouch (“The Reunion”).

Roughly 10 minutes into HBO Max’s Harry Potter reunion special, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, Ron Weasley actor Rupert Grint comments on the surreality of it all.

“It doesn’t feel like much time has passed. It doesn’t feel like we’ve earned a reunion yet.”

In true Weasley-ian fashion, Grint has intuitively identified something slightly off about this whole thing right from the get-go. Perhaps the Potter team hasn’t earned a reunion yet. Though the Warner Bros. series of films based on J.K. Rowling’s books began with Philosopher’s Stone in 2001, it ended just 10 years ago with Deathly Hallows Pt. 2. Since then, the Potter series has continued apace with two Fantastic Beasts prequel films and another scheduled for 2022. Warner’s franchising machine has also stayed humming, producing plenty of Harry Potter merchandise and media, with the biggest product, video game Hogwarts Legacy, set to premiere next year.

Entertainment industry heavyweights from France are sharing thoughts on their successes, the challenges they faced in a year overshadowed by Covid, as well as predicting what’s in store for the movie business in 2022.

Some of the country’s milestones in 2021 include the implementation of the E.U.’s Audiovisual Media Services Directive (Avms) to get global streamers like Netflix, Amazon and Apple TV Plus to start investing 20% of their annual revenues in French content, which broadcasting authorities (CSA) expect to be from €250 million ($282 million) to €300 million ($330 million) on average annually.

The country’s strict windowing rules are also getting a significant revamp which will allow streamers to have an earlier access — possibly 15 months — to newly released movies, compared with the current 36 months. While the indie film biz and the box office have been weakened by the pandemic, the French industry managed to get local pay TV group Canal Plus...

NBC and E! celebrated the people’s choice’s on Tuesday night. Fans rated the the best in movies, television, music and pop culture during the 2021 People’s Choice Awards show, hosted by actor and SNL veteran Kenan Thompson. This year marked the first time the award show did a simultaneous live broadcast across both channels.

Among the highlights, Oscar winner Halle Berry accepted The People’s Icon award, Kim Kardashian The Fashion Icon award, and Grammy winner Christina Aguilera the first-ever Music Icon award. Dwayne Johnson took home The People’s Champion award for his philanthropic work.

Top performances of the night included Aguilera’s debut of a never-before-seen medley of her biggest songs, with tracks from her new Spanish-language album. Country star Blake Shelton’s performed his latest song “Come Back as a Country Boy”, and H.E.R. performed a musical tribute to the life and legacy of Motown legend Marvin Gaye.

Exclusive: Ivanna Sakhno (Pacific Rim: Uprising) has been cast opposite Rosario Dawson and Natasha Liu Bordizzo in the Disney+ limited series Star Wars: Ahsoka, a spinoff from the streamer’s hit series The Mandalorian, I have learned.

In the limited series, Dawson stars as Ahsoka Tano after making the Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels character’s live-action debut in The Mandalorian, while Bordizzo is taking on the character of Sabine Wren from the Star Wars Rebels animated series. I hear Sakhno will play a newly created character. Reps for Lucasfilm and Sakhno had no comment.

Star Wars: Ahsoka, written by Dave Filoni and executive produced by Filoni and Jon Favreau, will continue Ahsoka’s story. The series, which is eyeing a March production start date, also is expected to feature an appearance by Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.

MGM International Television Productions and Scandinavia’s local streaming leader Nent Group have signed a multi-year deal to develop and co-produce six English-language original international series for the Nordic company’s SVOD service Viaplay.

The partnership’s first two projects will be “Billy the Kid” and “Last Light,” both of which were previously announced. Under the deal, all six series will be Viaplay Originals and will launch exclusively on the service throughout the Nordics, Baltics, Netherlands and Poland, with MGM handling distribution in the rest of the world.

“Billy the Kid” is an epic romantic drama series from Michael Hirst (“Vikings”) starring British actor Tom Blyth (“Benediction”) as the famous American outlaw. The series is a co-production with Epix Studios and MGM International Television Productions, in association with Nent Group. Otto Bathurst (“Peaky Blinders”) is directing the first two episodes of the eight-episode first season.

French soccer player-turned-actor Eric Cantona (“Looking for Eric”) is set to star in “Giant With Feet of Clay” (“Le Colosse aux pieds d’argile”), a television drama about sexual harassement and abuse in sports.

The movie is about to start shooting in Southwestern France with French director Stéphanie Murat; and is being produced by Sydney Gallonde’s Make It Happen Studio and Tetra Media Studio (“Paris Police 1900”).

Aude Marcle penned the script which is loosely based on the true story of Sébastien Boueilh, who penned the book “Le Colosse aux pieds d’argile” with Thierry Vildary. The timely movie has been commissioned by French TV network TF1 which is also co-producing.

“The Reunion,” the French Riviera-set series adapted from Guillaume Musso’s bestselling novel “La Jeune Fille et la Nuit,” has started shooting on location in the south of France with an international cast headlined by Ioan Gruffudd (“Fantastic Four”), Ivanna Sakhno (“Pacific Rim Uprising”) and Grégory Fitoussi (“Spiral”).

Directed by Bill Eagles, the English-language series is produced by Sydney Gallonde at Make It Happen Studio (“No Second Chance”), and co-produced by MGM International TV Productions and public broadcaster France Televisions.
