The story was predictable but ok, nothing new or original but it still kinda works.
The real problem starts with the acting, aside from the 2 main actors everyone was absolutely unwatchable. Every interaction or line felt so badly performed, it was almost laughable.
The only good thing about the movie was the main characters, Jacob(Brad Benedict) was a stiff but relatively good enough, As for his co-star Victoria(Katrina Norman), she was a true breath of fresh air, the only shining star in the movie. Her charm just bursts out and colors the rest of an otherwise bleak movie. Please let us see more of her, and next time in a movie she can really shine through.
5.1 out of 10 stars.

The acting was absolutely appalling, especially the father and the father's assistant. There was no chemistry between the leads, the leading lady was weak, as were her lines. The leading man didn't bother acting and just churned out the verbal mess of a script.
The whole thing was a waste of time and perhaps the scriptwriters may be better placed in other spheres of work, along with the actors.

Victoria Worthington makes wedding cakes and has a small bakery. She's a pushover in business and even with her ex. She mistakes wedding guest Jacob Adams III for kitchen staff. They hit it off. She doesn't know that he's one of the most eligible bachelors. He's actually a wealthy land developer who is tearing down a neighborhood which happens to include her bakery. He runs into her again and discovers that she's leading a protest against his family's company.
The leads are perfectly pretty. The chemistry is fine. Their acting is fine. It does have an interesting underlying conflict to generate heat. It's a standard romance. It's mostly fine. The production is a little lackluster. The property development company should be in a downtown high-rise to play up its cold corporate quality. The plot structure has a small problem by delaying the reveal. It needs to happen ten minutes earlier so that it could have more time to reverse it. Also it needs more food porn. It's a missed opportunity to fill up some time with some pretty baking. This is fine. More money could make the production prettier.

The story in this movie is very simple, and something that we've seen many times, but the acting in this movie is beyond bad. I have never seen worst. There is only one caracter that is ok and that is the leadwoman. The acting is bad and the story is not much Better. Stay away!! Waits of time

I wish we'd see more of Katrina Norman in these movies, she has the full range and looks amazing always without having to be dolled up.
The plot has been done in at least ten other of these movies so don't expect Citizen Kane. It's much better than the reviews here however although I agree with the acting of the minor characters- it was horrendous at times.

Katrina Norman beautiful and adorable but the acting isn't great in this one. She did fine but most of the male actors should brush up on their skills. The story was fine and it was worth watching.

It was a simple but beautiful story with very good acting. The young lady was superb and has a beautiful personality, and the young man was charming. The other critics don't have a clue to what makes Hallmarks so endearing. I would watch it again. It is in my top 20 of all Hallmark movies.

I didn't mind the formulaic plot, used so many, many times by Hallmark. But there was no warmth or chemistry. The only deep acting skill was shown by the lead, Ms. Norman. Oh, the others had talent, but it was not used to its fullest capacity. Ms. Norman brought true emotion and focus to her role.

THEY PUT THE CAKE BY ITSELF IN THE BACK OF A VAN LIKE A KIDNAPPED CHILD.
Even kidnapped children get strapped down, covered up and held tight in the back of a van. Not this cake though. Poor thing. It didn't even get a tupperware lid or a box to go in. It didnt even get something to lean on 🎂🚐😱 but guess what. Like magic, the cake was perfectly fine. Now it would have been hilarious and great for a plot (and bloody realistic) if the cake was ruined, right? Nope.
I watch Bridezillas. The cake is a major item when it comes to drama. For reasons like transporting, cost, size...? But they transport the cakes secured, or set it up at the venue; the cakes do come in tiers... Now if it's those obnoxious huge sand castle looking cakes then that might be another story with tiers and building at the venue. But transport is still secure. But this was a simple four tier cake here and the width of an average human and the weight of maybe a one year old. You could have held it in your lap. Not left it in a huge empty white van trunk by itself. What an off putting flaw. I can't get passed it. Folks, this was five minutes in. Shame.
I also have seen this plot before. A big bad real estate developer wants to build in an artsy or green space. Another film called True Love Blooms had this antagony. Awesome film about a developer wanting to build luxury condos in a garden! How important is that message!! From gentrification, to even imperialism, to quite simply an environmentalist wanting a community garden in an urbanized place. That film came with flaws (annoyingly gleeful actress, unattractive beau, no sexual chemistry) but it's a way better story in the same situation as these guys. The streaming site I'm watching Love on the Rise on is buffering and I take it as a sign. I will skip this.

I was following along with this okay movie until I noticed the bakery back room was a green screen. The lead actress and the actress who co-owns the bakery have several scenes in that room. The scenes are in a purple tint and the canisters and shelving are as fake as the chemistry of the lead actors.
This is a GAC movie. Not Hallmark.

I got 30 minutes in and couldn't continue. I was fine with a predictable storyline, but the acting was made of cardboard. I've seen many of them in other movies, so I don't know what the problem was here, but I could not endure it.

I'm new to GAC. I learned about it when Danica McKellar signed with them. I gave this 20-30 minutes and then bailed. I'm a big Hallmark fan. GAC is going to have to work harder to keep my attention.

Classic Hallmark all about great actress, feel good story but except Katrina nothing outstanding but she deserves the 10!!! By far!
Such bad, really lazy writing and the acting is not good but the two leads are the best of this sorry bunch. Some of the characters come off as cartoonishly bad.

Boarding on bad acting
Kind of boring
High School level acting.
I do not understand the overall rating of this film. It is definitely not a horrible movie but it is not 5 stars. If it happens to be on tv, worth watching as background noise but not worth hunting down.

I love cheesy hallmark-esque movies. I watch them alllll the time. I'm used to formulaic. Subpar acting, cheap production and still love it.
I mean My junior high theater productions were better. Like it's hysterical. There are sooooo many things. The side "actors" are just horrific. The friend, the girl, the dad. Haha.
I mean. Who dates a guy for weeks and doesn't know his last name? The "influencer" is umm. Yea. That bad. The lines these people have to say is awful. The golf course looks like trash- no rich guy is playing at a subpar public course. The bakery that's supposed to be on the beachfront- clearly in an old rundown strip mall. The fancy company office has hotel wallpaper from 1993? They can't find a nicer building?
1 star: main girl is super cute and shows potential. Guy is pretty cute too. Storyline has been overdone but hey it's worked before!
But how do some of these people even get cast? Like seriously. How does a script work these lines get green lit? And who do I submit mine to?!
I just had to come back and edit this to say it got worse.... Like. Wow.

Bad acting, bad dialogue, derivative plot. Developers are going to close the leading lady's shop. The leading man is the developer's son and works there. Dad is a Grump and doesn't listen to anyone. So whatever plot there is pretty much writes itself. The actor playing Dad is bad. The assistant is bad.
If it weren't for Katrina Norman the score on this would be negative. Norman is charming and upbeat. Unfortunately she wasn't enough.

The acting is horrible. Hard to watch. Storyline ok but very predictable and with the bad acting, wouldn't recommend. If you all want to get to the status of Hallmark movies, better work on the acting.

People commenting here watched it on GAC somewhat recently and act like it's the product of GAC... it was originally produced by Hallmark and also aired on Lifetime. It was filmed in 2019 and released in 2020 - GAC launched in late 9/2021 - so common sense dictates that GAC had nothing to do with the production. It's very common for newly launched channels to buy movies from other channels to air - sometimes even changing the name. GAC has aired several Lifetime and Hallmark movies since they launched while they build their own library of originals. Also common is to have a lower production quality early on because money is tight. (Hallmarks were WAY worse than this in the beginning and only started improving in the last 5 years).
Here's a thought - if you don't like these kind of movies, don't watch them. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. Movies like this are appreciated by millions - you think we don't know it's basically the same plot over and over? Lol. You think we can't see it's predictable? We enjoy the simplicity. We enjoy the innocence. We enjoy the tradition. If you don't, don't watch. Pretty simple.

The ending to a hallmark movie is always the same, which is what we all love, but the plot for this movie was more cliched than usual. The two lead actors were okay, but would agree with other reviewers that the rest of the cast were hammy at best.

I don't have to watch this movie. It's another you've-got-mail ripoff.
I give it a 2 because the actress is attractive.
"Love on the Rise" has a few people in it you will recognize from other productions and quite a few who are from community theater productions. Or excuse me, "theatre."
They all do their best but with no suspense or conflict, doing one's best does not help.
If you're tempted to watch this movie during the day, take a walk instead.
If it's night, just go to sleep.
Either option is a better use of your time.
The film is a sincere effort, it just doesn't make much of an effort.
