Juliyat and her family, the Al Kadi arrive at the asylum in their new hometown. Her brother and parents are not exactly enthusiastic, but Juliyat is optimistic. On the other side of the village there are demonstrations against the outsiders and the asylum to house them. Remy has mixed feelings about the protest and his confusion only increases when he meets Juliyat at school..

A fire drill enables Remy and Juliyat to be alone for the first time and get to know each other better. Juliyat likes him very much, but knows it's absolutely impossible. This becomes painfully clear when there is a fight between the village youth and the youth of the asylum.

Remy's father, Bart, makes it clear to him that asylum seekers are no good and Nour, Juliyat's mother urges her to stay away from the villagers. When Remy visits Juliyat at the asylum, it turns out that they really like each other. What's the next step? Remy decides to ask his anarchist grandfather for advice.

A well-intended project exposes how much the village youth and the asylum teenagers oppose each other. But Remy is determined to get to know Juliyat better, even if she doesn't think that's possible. He uses his drawing skills to convince her.

Remy's father forbids him for seeing Juliyat ever again. Remy doesn't seem to be bothered but Juliyat is and she makes it very clear to Remy that she can't hang out with him anymore. Remy is desperate. Can he ever make amends with Juliyat again?

Remy tries to win back Juliyat by creating a romantic spot in Grandpa Jack's yard, but just as everything seems to be going well between them the tension at school increases when an argument between Max and Hamza escalates, with unexpected big consequences.

When a brick flies into the Al Kadi family's living room everyone in the village is on edge. For Nour this is living proof that they are not welcome here and wants to leave as soon as possible. Juliyat wants to prevent this at all costs and asks Remy for help.

The atmosphere is tense due to the attack on the asylum and Juliyat's parents want to leave. Remy and Juliyat are looking for a way to prevent that and bring the fighting parties together. A trick by grandpa and the Christmas market seem to be a perfect plan. Remy and Juliyat are in danger of being exposed when Remy and his father repair the window at the Al Kadi's Home.

Remy and Juliyat are frightened and realize that their plan for the Christmas market has to succeed. The construction of the market leads to fraternizing brotherhood between villagers and asylum seekers. Relieved, Remy and Juliyat find a quiet place and kiss for the first time. They don't realize that they are being watched by a jealous Olivia.

With the Holidays approaching, there's a very good atmosphere in both Remy and Juliyat's families. But not for long, just as everything seems to go wrong when someone suddenly reveals that Remy and Juliyat have fallen in love with each other.

Remy and Juliyat are punished by their angry and disappointed parents. Remy discovers that Olivia is behind the betrayal and goes to Juliyat to help her. Bart's revenge has major consequences: the atmosphere among the asylum seekers is explosive now that two of them have been falsely accused.

Remy and Juliyat try to convince their parents that their love is sincere but to no avail. They are both grounded and are no longer allowed to see each other. With the help of Pien and Grace they can still have contact with each other and Remy is shocked when it turns out that Juliyat is going to move.

When the Kadi family's move is set in motion, Remy and Juliyat decide to run away to Westzijde, an artists' village where they can be together. They start an escape plan, but an unexpected visit by PJ to Remy's home throws a spanner into the works.

When Remy does not show up, Juliyat gets worried, especially when she finds out that a fire has started in the village. When he finally shows up, Remy pretends he has nothing to do with it and the two run away together, while the villagers try to fight the fire.

When it becomes evident that Remy and Juliyat are on the run, there's no other option. Both families will have to join forces to find them, but that's not without a struggle. Meanwhile, Remy and Juliyat discover something shocking about West Side.

Remy is defeated when it turns out that West Side no longer exists, but nevertheless refuses to return home. Juliyat does not understand why, until Remy confesses that he is guilty of setting the fire. Meanwhile Bart and the family Al Kadi end up at a dead end.

The village's search is still ongoing when Remy and Juliyat unexpectedly return home. When they plead guilty to the fire and plead their case, both families realize that they should never have forbidden their love and the Christmas party can still go on.
