Have you ever come across a show that starts out like your standard haunted house story only to pull the rug out from under you with an ingenious twist? Though it begins by seemingly treading familiar horror grounds, rest assured this one has far more intriguing depths to plumb.
The six-episode miniseries follows a mother, Varee, who flees to her remote childhood home with her young daughter in tow, hoping to find shelter from dangers in their past. But strange occurrences soon begin plaguing the run-down old mansion, and before long the girl vanishes without a trace.

After bringing a case against Horizen for copying uploads illegally, the pair ultimately win the case, but as they’re exiting the court, Nathan is handcuffed and taken away by Horizen employees as downloads haven’t been legalized. This squashes any possible plans he and Nora had for their immediate future until we learn in the finale’s final seconds that the digital copy of Nathan still living at Lakeview and currently engaged to Ingrid (Allegra Edwards) is also in limbo, as one version told Nathan’s loved ones that only one of them is allowed to exist. Step out of your 6000 Sux, stop watching Tj Lazer re-runs, put down that flier from the Home Heart Centre, box up your game of Nukem. That’s right folks, we’re time-traveling to the not too distant future of 2043 Detroit in this episode of Revisited where Paul Verhoeven set his seminal, all time classic sci-fi action epic Robocop. The Dutch director showcases all of his trademark filmmaking skills and a penchant for graphic violence in the movie and it remains an often copied, but never bettered, example of visceral sci-fi filmmaking. Just think of entertainment empires that are now synonymous with the era in which they first emerged and have gained longevity in various forms – for example; Star Wars, Marvel, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and it’s hard to imagine a mid-budget movie such as Robocop having the same cultural appeal or influence. However, just like its hero,...

In an array of “eat-the-rich” narratives, “Hunger” attempts to tell a similar tale mixed with the power of passion. From the trailer alone, “Hunger” gives off “The Menu” vibes, adding cultural context through a Thai lens, but unfortunately, it’s neither as entertaining nor as impactful due to its tedious pacing and on-the-nose presentation of the concept. Visually, it is charming, and Bangkok looks as dreamy as ever. The trouble is not the concept but the execution. The director of the hit series “Girl From Nowhere,” Sitisiri Mongkolsiri, brings out his thriller instincts in “Hunger,” drenching it in blood and darkness but failing to pack a punch, unlike the aforementioned series. Personally, I think there should’ve been more cultural involvement in “Hunger” than the blatant display of the class divide in Thailand.
“Hunger” follows Aoy (Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying), a culinary prodigy who has recently inherited her father’s pad see ew restaurant.

It's a good time to be named Charlie Cox. Netflix's — and now Marvel's — "Daredevil" star is set to lead the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the blind lawyer with excessive Catholic guilt in "Daredevil: Born Again." With that renewed social currency, Cox is finding a wealth of other stories to tell. Among them is Netflix's upcoming limited series, "Treason," which the United Kingdoms and Ireland branch of the streaming juggernaut's Twitter account revealed the show's release date.
The announcement came bundled with a collection of first-look images showcasing Cox and some of his fellow cast members (more on them later) all looking very serious in suits and bulletproof vests. Considering "Treason" is set to be a spy thriller piece in the same vein as "James Bond" and "The Bourne Identity," the attire seems appropriate.

Despite the name, Flesh and Blood is a relatively simple Tcg that won’t leave you covered in cuts and bruises—not literally, anyway. Hailing from Legendary Story Studios in New Zealand, the game involves pitting your hero against your opponent’s in a back-of-forth game of might and magic, using equipment, abilities, and some plain old wits to get the upper hand and achieve victory. It’s a quick game that values making fast moves and keeping everyone light on their feet until someone reigns supreme.
The basic format of standard play is as follows: you have a hero and a supporting deck of at least 60 cards, of which anything can appear up to three times. At the beginning of a match, you reveal your hero and their equipment to your opponent, and you settle in for a round. An official round lasts 50 minutes, after which if...

An ambitious original drama about Black Tudors living in 17th-century London is in the works for U.K. streamer BritBox.
Produced by ITV Studios-backed Silverprint Pictures, “Southwark” is in paid development for the BBC and ITV-backed SVOD platform. Set in the 1600s, the series will be written by novelist and screenwriter Catherine Johnson, best known for the 2004 Ashley Walters-fronted film “Bullet Boy.”
The story, which was inspired by Miranda Kaufmann’s historical book “Black Tudors,” will combine both factual and fictional characters as well as true events to reflect a different perspective of Tudor England.
The Tudor period technically spanned the late 1400s to early 1600s, and “Black Tudors” is set towards the end of the era, in 1600. Kaufmann’s book focuses on the stories of 10 Africans who came to England from Africa, Europe and the Spanish Caribbean and lived in England during the Tudor and Stuart times.

Ahead of the UK premiere of Two Heads Creek, a playfully dark cannibal horror comedy, director Jesse O’Brien talks about the joys of cannibal karaoke, tackling immigration issues and filming in a haunted hotel.
How did Jordan Waller’s Two Heads Creek script end up in your hands and did you see it as more a family comedy than a cannibal gore-fest?
Producer Judd Tilyard and I were developing one of my own scripts, Inherit the Earth, which we thought would take a while to finance – and during that process he asked if I’d like to take a look at another script, which was then called Flesh and Blood. I read it with a sense of hesitation. Did I want my second film to be a cannibal horror comedy set in the outback? But from page one, Jordan Waller’s writing really leaped off the page. Pete Hamill, the Brooklyn-born journalist whose street-savvy writing style and editorial hand lent an authentic, even quintessential voice to city tabloids The New York Post and The Daily News over a 50-year-career, died today in his native borough. He was 85.
His brother, the writer Denis Hamill, told The New York Times that Hamill fell at home on Saturday after returning from a dialysis treatment. He was taken to Brooklyn’s Methodist Hospital were he died apparently from kidney and heart failure.
Hamill began his newspaper career at the Post in 1960. Over the next decades he would write for the Daily News, Newsday, The Village Voice, The Saturday Evening Post, Esquire, Playboy, Rolling Stone and many other publications. Along with columnist Jimmy Breslin, Hamill popularized a streetwise writing style that could seem equal parts Norman Mailer, Damon Runyon and the millions of outer borough residents he both championed and chronicled.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Season 2 of “The Umbrella Academy.”)
The first two seasons of Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy” saw the super-powered Hargreeves siblings fighting against an apocalypse they themselves had caused. But with the season finale’s jump to yet another timeline where they don’t seem to have ever existed, will their bad luck streak continue?
According to showrunner Steve Blackman, the answer is probably yes.
“They’re terrible for the world because they’re so dysfunctional as a family,” Blackman said in an interview with TheWrap. “These guys can’t get it right, both in their relationships with each other and as superheroes. But I think they’re getting a little bit better, and hopefully if we’re lucky enough to get a Season 3, they will improve slightly.”

The streaming giant confirmed today that it’s now back to the original blueprint: The Crown will end after season six.
The news was an exclusive from UK publication Broadcast, quickly confirmed by the streamer’s official Netflix UK & Ireland Twitter account:

— Netflix UK & Ireland (@NetflixUK) July 9, 2020
As Broadcast has it, The Crown creator Peter Morgan “reversed his decision to end it after five.” Deadline is also leading with Morgan having had a change of heart. Here’s his statement on...

HBO has released the official trailer for “I May Destroy You,” its hotly-anticipated topical new TV series from Michaela Coel, the BAFTA-winning creator of “Chewing Gum.” Coel executive produces, writes, co-directs and stars in the series, which the network promises will be bold and candid, exploring the question of sexual consent in the present day given how much the landscape of dating and relationships has changed. And given Coel’s previous work, as well as the look of the trailer, it likely will be provocative.
HBO is certainly no stranger to envelope-pushing series. And “I May Destroy You” will likely fit in perfectly on the network that Zendaya’s “Euphoria” — or any number of its hard-hitting documentaries — call home.
Previously titled “January 22nd,” the official synopsis for “I May Destroy You” reads: “Set in London, where gratification is only an app away, the story centers on Arabella (Coel), a carefree,...

After years of making a name for himself in New York theater, Mark Ruffalo was on the cusp of breaking in to high-profile movie roles when television came calling.
In 1999, Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson had been handed a 13-episode order from Upn for a cop drama “The Beat.” Fontana and casting director Alexa Fogel had been impressed by Ruffalo’s work on stage and recruited him to co-star in the series as the hotheaded ladies-man New York City beat cop Zane Marinelli.
Fontana and Levinson’s track record with NBC’s indelible “Homicide: Life on the Street” and HBO’s arresting “Oz” lent credibility to “The Beat.” The show promised to be envelope-pushing, if only because nobody was watching Upn anyway. The pilot was directed by Levinson. Ruffalo had more than a few shirtless scenes in the early episodes.
“Tom had seen me in plays and was a fan.
