Raffaella Carrà, beloved Italian singer, dancer and actor, who starred with Frank Sinatra in 1965’s Von Ryan’s Express, died Monday. She was 78.

“Raffaella has left us. She has gone to a better world, where her humanity, her unmistakable laugh and her extraordinary talent will shine forever, her longtime partner, Sergio Iapino, said in a statement Monday to Italian national news agency Ansa. A cause of death was not revealed, but Iapino said she had been battling an unnamed illness for some time.

Carrà was a popular figure throughout Europe and Latin America, known for her work in numerous popular television series, and was widely regarded as a gay icon.

Born in Bologna, Carrà made her feature film debut at the age of nine in Tormento del passato. She went on to appear in several Italian “peplum” films in the early 1960s, Fury of the Pagans, Atlas in the Land of the Cyclops,...

The coming months are going to be fascinating ones for Netflix, as the perennial streaming giant has to compete with Disney Plus and Apple TV+. As usual, though, the company’s releasing some new original content next month while also introducing a few Christmas titles into the mix ahead of December.

Some highlights for November include the third season of The Crown, and the streaming premiere of Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman. In addition, we’re getting new episodes of animated hits such as She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and the second installment of the cult British series The End of the F***king World.

At present, though, there doesn’t seem to be a large number of recent movie additions outside of Netflix originals, perhaps owing to the service’s ongoing commitment to its own content in the face of Apple TV+ launching on November 1st and Disney...

Bonfanti wrote and directed the film about the life of a man whose body does not obey the physical laws of gravity. This film seems similar, in a few ways, to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. But instead of a baby being born old, this baby has no connection to gravity. He just floats. A gravity-defying baby raised in seclusion matures into an extraordinary man—and an international celebrity—but he still longs for an ordinary life. Starring Elio Germano as Oscar, with a cast including Michela Cescon, Elena Cotta, Silvia D'Amico, Vincent Scarito, and Pietro Pescara. This actually looks quite charming and uplifting.
