A New Year means lots of removals from Netflix and January 1st is looking busy, with over 100 movies set to leave the service already. Below, we’ll be keeping track of all the Netflix departures for the first month of 2024.

First, a few housekeeping notes as to how Netflix removals work before we dive in. Due to licensing agreements, shows and movies added to Netflix aren’t added forever. Instead, they’re essentially rented for a fixed period. All the shows below have their current window on Netflix ending and will likely be bound for a rival streaming service.

We list titles slightly differently from other outlets, with our listings being the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any titles scheduled to expire on January 1st, for example, you’ll need to watch by the end of December 31st.

As this past week was the first week of December, Netflix got things rolling with the usual glut of new titles. It’s easy to miss everything that went up on the streaming giant over the past seven days, so we’ve compiled a handy recap of every single movie and TV show that dropped from Monday, November 30th to Sunday, December 6th. In total, that’s 58 new additions.

The 1st obviously delivered the bulk of the haul, serving up a ton of fresh films to keep you entertained as we begin the festive season. Among the highlights was the original Jurassic Park and one of its sequels and if you missed them at the beginning of the week, you can also catch the likes of romcom 50 First Dates, animated film Monster House and the one and only E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. As for TV shows, all of Stargate was likewise added the same day.

It’s the very first day of December, and as you’re finishing up some holiday shopping, Netflix is already ahead of schedule with a fantastic gift for you – tons of fresh content that you’re not going to want to miss.

This isn’t unusual, of course, as the first day of any month is guaranteed to be the biggest for the world’s most popular streaming service. You can usually expect quite a bit of high-profile stuff, and today is no different with its wide selection of appealing new and returning movies and shows that encompass nearly every genre.

Among other things, some classic series have dropped multiple entries in their lineup, including Jurassic Park and its second sequel, as well as Tom Hanks’ The Da Vinci Code and its follow-up Angels & Demons. Somehow, December starts on Tuesday even though it only feels like yesterday that the world was turning as normal and everyone was going about their business as usual before the Coronavirus pandemic came along and changed everything. As is the case every time we enter a new month, though, the various streaming services on offer are adding a whole host of new titles to their libraries and over the next seven days, Netflix has more than 50 movies and TV shows heading our way.

The list contains about everything you’d expect, from some all-time classics to several pretty terrible efforts that still stand a decent chance of cracking the Top 10 most-watched list, while there are even a couple of Adam Sandler films thrown in for good measure along with a handful of high-profile originals, and you can check out the full and exhaustive selection below.

A Love So Beautiful...

With just a few days of November left, we’ve now got a look at what’s coming to Netflix across December and the following breakdown gives us a strong idea of what to expect from the streaming giant next month. As you can see down below, it promises that a number of exciting original releases are on their way. Many of these are some of the most-anticipated titles of the year as well, meaning Netflix has truly saved the best for last.

On December 1st, we know to expect animated sequel Angela’s Christmas Wish and The Holiday Movies That Made Us, a documentary which looks at the best Christmas films around, while a ton of licensed titles will be added as well. Adam Sandler’s beloved 50 First Dates will be joining the platform, along with Jon Favreau’s excellent Chef, two Jurassic Park movies and more.

November is the last month of the year for sensible viewing, before our TV screens become full-time broadcasters of golden retrievers saving Christmas and Will Ferrell wearing tights. Take the opportunity then, to get some good stuff in before the festivities.

In terms of good stuff, Netflix is offering the second series of the brilliantly wry and surprisingly touching The End of the F***ing World for any UK viewers who didn’t catch it on Channel 4. There’s also the excellent animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (we loved it. 5 stars.) as well as Boots Riley’s inventive, funny, political satire Sorry to Bother You (we also loved it. 4.5 stars.) On top of that, you can take a nostalgic trip to Capeside with all six seasons of Dawson’s Creek or watch emotionally repressed royals deal with the advent of the 1980s in season four of The Crown.

For the first time in a while, Netflix is adding no new titles today, so let’s instead take the opportunity to recap what’s gone up on the streaming site over the past week, from Saturday, August 1st to Saturday, August 8th. As that encompasses the first day of the month, there was a huge amount of fresh content added to Netflix’s library over this period. To be exact, there were 49 movies and 24 TV shows.

On the film side of things, this haul includes many an acclaimed or cult favorite flick from across the decades in all kinds of genres. The highlight is probably the entire Jurassic Park trilogy, which has proved popular with Netflix users as the first two entries have been hanging around the top 10 most-watched movies list almost ever since arriving. 80s classic fantasy flick The NeverEnding Story and its sequel were added on the 1st as well,...

As good of a month as July was for Netflix subscribers, the streaming giant looks to deliver an almost as impressive August and they kicked things off yesterday with a huge drop that comprised old classics, forgotten films, underrated gems and more. And while not super heavy for horror, in particular, there were still a few notable titles that arrived on the platform yesterday that are sure to get your blood pumping and make your palms sweaty.

For instance, the original Jurassic Park trilogy – that’s Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III – is now on Netflix and while perhaps not the scariest films out there, they still do have their moments of horror and hold up very well even today. The first one, of course, is a bonafide classic, but its two sequels are certainly worth a watch as well.

Meanwhile, 1991’s The Addams Family...

Though Netflix has dropped a few notable titles from its library to say goodbye to July, today has brought us a whole heap of fresh content to usher in the new month. With over 30 new movies and TV shows, August has been welcomed with a truckload of classic films, mostly from the 90s and the early 00s, as well as some other interesting titles that you may want to check out.

The most attention-grabbing additions are all three Jurassic Park movies, which are hopping over to Netflix after a short stint on Peacock. So, you may want to travel back to Isla Nubar yet again this weekend and treat yourself to a rewatch of the prehistoric trilogy. Elsewhere, there are the two sequels to Ocean’s Eleven and medieval adventure A Knight’s Tale starring the much-missed Heath Ledger.

Also, watch out for Tobey Maguire’s horse-racing themed drama Seabiscuit, Robert Pattinson...

You’re going to have to steel yourself for this monster of a content update. Between them, Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney Plus and Amazon Prime have an obscene number of quality titles debuting this weekend.

With The Umbrella Academy returning for a second season this Friday, superhero shows remain a solid investment for Netflix. Whether licensed or original, the US version of Netflix currently has 61 superhero-themed series available to stream, including multiple shows from the Arrowverse, the Netflix McU originals and quite a ridiculous amount of Power Rangers content. What are some of the highlights, then, of Netflix’s superpowered series?

Well, in terms of The CW’s Arrowverse, Netflix has the back catalogue of Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, as well as Black Lightning, which taken together represents 536 episodes. While the quality of the shows may vary at times, the Arrowverse is arguably one of the best adaptations of the DC Universe to the screen and showed the potential of television to embrace the storytelling format of comics. As we finish up July and head into August, Netflix has a bunch of great new content coming this week. Though Monday doesn’t feature anything fresh, Tuesday through Sunday will deliver a ton of exciting titles, including a lot of classic movies and a bunch of Netflix Originals.

The highlights of what’s to come in the last days of July include Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege season 1, the beginning of a new trilogy exploring the final hours of the civil war that was fought between the Autobots and the Decepticons on their homeworld, and also The Umbrella Academy season 2, in which things are set to get even weirder for the Hargreeves clan.

Netflix is adding a seriously impressive line-up of content across August. In a bid to keep you indoors and out of the sun, the streaming giant has got a wide range of titles coming to its library next month, including various highly-anticipated original movies and TV shows, as well as countless beloved films that are being added – or are returning – to the site.

We’ve previously had a couple of updates on what to expect in August, but this is the full official list of everything that’s due on Netflix over the course of next month. As we already knew, some of the highlights include Jamie Foxx superhero vehicle Project Power and the fifth and penultimate season of DC’s Lucifer. Now, however, we can see there’s a lot more to look forward to besides just that.

The first day of August, in particular, brings a whole heap of titles.

Now that we’re two thirds of the way through July, we’ve got a pretty good idea of what’s coming to Netflix next month. New titles are being added all the time and while some days remain lacking in content at present, on the whole we know what to expect on the streaming service in August.
