Jitendra Kumar plays role of IIT mentor and is shown IIT pass out in the series. In real life also he is an IITian, he is an alumni of IIT Kharagpur.
Balmukund Meena played by Ranjan Raj is also an ex-IITian.
The show has used black and white color scheme which depicts the colourless, boring, depressing aspect of students' life in Kota. The colour scheme is inspired from the movie "Schindler's List" which is based on lives of Jews under gruesome rule of Nazis.
There is no class in Kota called Prodigy classes or Maheshwari classes.
However, these are based on a number of different real classes in Kota (some of the episodes are also shot in them, hence the credit to Bansal classes at the end of each episode)
Revathi Pillai (who plays Vartika) was studying for her 12th standard exams while acting in this series.
