A funny movie, perfect if you want to laugh for a while, even if the plot is not a big deal.

Te quiero, imbecil is a cheesy cliche filled comedy, nevertheless is a lovely film about life, changes, rebirth and problems in young adults.

This movie is simple but effective in that it takes all the modern stuff young people do, just like going to Happn or Tinder, and come out of it a bit better person.
It's quite funny overall. Good for a Saturday afternoon.

Clear sailing Spanish romcom we all know where the plot is headed. Apart from few unnecessary LGBTQ+ jokes, Laura Mañá taught us that you don't have to look far to find perfect love. Gutiérrez transformed himself into 'alpha male' in quite humorous way.
Amusing ,fast moving, Well acted Spanish comedy. A lot of cussing but the acting makes it less obtrusive.
Or stay that way I reckon. Romantic comedies are a peculiar thing. Even if the work for some, others will hate them with all their heart. So while this isn't close to the best romantic comedy I've seen, it is more than decent enough. With cliches and jokes that may feel forced at times - parents having "sex", accidental transvestite dating and so forth ... the latter may feel insensitive or at least read that way, but your reaction to it will say more than the actual reaction the movie is showing. Handled it quite well considering the subject matter.
For a non english movie you feel weird this having an english song being so imprtant. So full of feelings - I smiled and had a tear in my eye. Which obviously was intended - the song is great too of course. Very fine use and the lyrics sort of are fitting too. Just enjoy the madness (not much but the little it has) and the two very different characters that are not fit for each other now are they? But will they be good for each other in the end? Well what do you think? Not giving anything away of course - one thing I will tell: there is some nudity. Which makes sense when you see people sleep with each other ... or just because they like to take their clothes off (who knows?) ... fun little movie that can be enjoyed if you're not too harsh with it (and yourself)

The Spanish have a great sense of humour which may seem ridiculous and childish to some. I love you stupid will lift you spirits with lighthearted humour that will appeal to both male and female. Not for those who take life too seriously. A pleasant surprise and great feel good entertainment.

Someone got impressed by all the awards "Fleabag" got, ant thought "what if we made a Fleabag style movie..." But the result is way far from the original.
In a short sentence, this movie is boring, just this, not bad itself, not bad actors, and nothing so bad in particular to mention, just boring.

As I have almost seen all the Spanish comedy movies in Netflix, I would say this one is the movie I have enjoyed the most. I have a basic Spanish level but I was still able to understand it--an indicator that they have good acting skills.
Romantic comedies looks much the same wherever its made or when its done. though this is a male seeker movie, and that may attract me as a man more than harry potter seeks. it has all the same cliches, and the same sjargong as the rest of the genre. its the main caracter narrated story and the lovestory is real sad. but with 500 miles to walk back and forth brings happiness back to where it belongs. and let london be the magic keyword
its a spanish product with rather starspangling spanish actors that delivers the goods very nice.to me the film felt like it was made in small sequences, and the way the director have hit the bulls eye is that every sequence ends with a good laugh. so let that be the reason to view ''te quiero, imbecil''. the grumpy old man had a good time, a recommend

Nothing is more tiresome than seeing another loser evolve into a stud in the movies. This new loser, a 35-year-old who gets dumped by his girlfriend of eight years after he pops the question, is so taken to her he decides to win her back. However, the loser's womanizing pal thinks this is a bad idea, instead urging him to improve himself and hookup with other women in a futile attempt to forget her. Loser then takes pal's advice, and concurrently seeks the tutelage of an Internet influencer, who doles out principles on dating that ranges from physical fitness to bedding women. We then see him gradually transform into the Desirable Man, or what he calls "21st Century Man" (who I presume is the prototypical handsome dude women often lust for). Along the way he crosses paths with a girl from his high school, and they instantly become friends. Suddenly, he and his ex meet by chance and she sees how he has dramatically changed; they engage in casual flings, until he realizes that she's actually engaged.
We all know where the plot is headed, and that's the problem. The premise, worn out as it is, is conceived in a similar vein to 2004's "Just Friends", an American Ryan Reynolds-starrer about a fatty who turns into a hottie, with the sexy Amy Smart as his BFF (but not for long). Both movies are dull, neither comes even close to a decent rom-com. By contrast, however, the Spanish-produced "I Love You, Stupid" is beautifully photographed, shot with digital cinematography, yet it also employs some edits and music cues that make the movie feel like a hybrid of a TV ad for men's care product and an infomercial about the common man. It is a good-looking bad movie that features a lot of good-looking actors but very little interesting characters.

It may be predictable but go along for the ride, it's still fun! With beautiful sets and people. Superb casting of the lead characters and the most of the music is Shazam worthy. The story takes some turns but gets to the same destination, and what a perfect ending! This film elicits feelings and when a film does that it is worth watching. It is like watching destiny play itself out, no spoilers here so will keep it short. Spanish cinema is getting better and better, this film may be a bit formulaic of American romantic comedies but that recipe works, so why not enjoy a meal you know will be good?
A Spanish romantic comedy, produced for Netflix, with everything in the right place, that is to say, that reproduces all the clichés of the genre in an exemplary way and without great traces of originality.
The funniest part of the film are the self-help videos of the Argentine guru, precisely because it is the only trace of any originality. Everything else has been seen and is totally predictable.
Of course, the genre works, the characters generate empathy, the film goes by fast and causes a few complicit smiles. It's been like this since Claudette Colbert and Cary Grant, passing by Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal and so many others.
It pleases with its enormous predictability, but it doesn't add anything, it just entertains.

Known on Netflix as "I love you stupid"... it looked to be promising. The main character proposes to his girlfriend of 8 years and she dumps him, then he gets fired, and has to move in with his parents. It is his exploration of finding someone else. But, of course, and old friend comes back into his life and maybe she is the one? First, this is in Spanish with subtitles. I do not like that. Then the co star is Natalia Tena -- you know from game of thrones. Ok then this must be higher quality work. But it wasn't.
Tena's character is sooo over done. She comes on like gangbusters seemingly everyplace the main character goes and laughing at everything he says like it is the funniest thing in the world. This kind of "hey my female buddy is pretty hot" story doesn't work if the female buddy appears to be head over heels for the guy in the first scene. She also does that whole.. calling the guy she likes "stupid" ugh.
I didn't finish. It was just so.. by the numbers.

"Te Quiero, Imbécil" shows the journey that begins with a man who is out of touch with the ever-evolving relationship climate of the 21st century. The plot takes the form of the cliché loser-to-legendary main character, but this film offers something that I have yet to see in many modern rom-coms. This movie shows a true understanding of how teens in today's world navigate through personal problems and identity crises. This is not your typical speed-dating at a bar rom-com, but instead this film uses the tools of the real world with apps like Tinder and Bumble or a non-copyrighted equivalent, and the movie supplements the way modern couples often meet for the first time with the use of a popular "influencer" who has no stated credentials besides having the "best self-help channel on the internet." The combinations of dating apps and the all-knowing internet in a practical way show the director's understanding of the current climate of the world, and I see the similarities as a college student who watched this movie with his girlfriend.
The social climate of the movie also gives a more modern spin on an oversaturated genre by giving a female character who is truly independent and happy without the romantic involvement of the main character. She is not harsh, mean, or any sort of typical Hollywood representation of a male-dependent woman. She is a true representation of of how many navigate the romance world in today's world. The support of a guy-best-friend or girl-best-friend is almost an epidemic with how prevalent it is for one sex to depend on the friendship of someone of the opposite sex while being completely platonic. Again, the development of a fully-written, independent, female character shows the understanding of the current world.
While the modern understanding and refreshing take on a rom-com is a huge part of the joy of this movie, a rom-com would not be a rom-com without corny comedy. This movie epitomizes cheap humor and varying levels of forced jokes. The raunchy jokes in this movie come out of left field and sometimes they make you chuckle, shake your head, burst out in laughter, or even frown at how cheap of an attempt it really is. There is no one reaction to expect from the jokes in this movie, as the comedic content is so well varied and paced. The combination of a great comedy, modern visuals and plot, and a tried-and-true plot path allows this movie to serve the exact purpose it seeks to.
