Have you checked out Love Next Door on Netflix yet? It's easily the best K-Drama to be released in August, so we strongly recommend adding it to your watchlist. Not only does it have an interesting premise that'll grab your attention right away, it also stars two well-known South Korean actors in the leading roles.
It's a Korean romantic comedy series coming from Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha creators Yoo Je-won and Shin Ha-eun. You might also recognize Je-won from his previous directorial work on the hit Netflix K-Drama Crash Course in Romance, while Ha-eun can be recognized for previously writing for the Korean shows Argon and The Crowned Clown.
It tells the love story of a project manager named Bae Seok-ryu, who decides to return to her hometown, hoping for a fresh start in life, and an old childhood friend and young architect, Choi Seung-hyo, with whom she shares a complicated past.

With its list of new releases for September 2022, Prime Video is finally unveiling the most anticipated (and expensive) series in the streamer’s history.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will arrive to Prime Video’s servers on Sept. 2, 2022. This Lord of the Rings prequel, set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Second Age, is in many ways the kind of TV property that Prime Video must have always wanted. It’s certainly the TV property most fitting with the company’s largesse and riches. The Rings of Power will cover the creation of the titular rings and many important events from Tolkien’s lore (condensed into a more TV-appropriate timeframe).
Middle-earth is going to be the happening spot on Amazon and the streaming world at large this month, but Prime Video does have a handful of other originals for the fantasy-phobic. Flight/Risk, a documentary about the Boeing 737 Max design disasters,...

It’s hard to believe 2022 is almost over. Kids are returning back to school, the seasons will start to change, and the fall television lineup will be here before you know it. With that, it’s time to start prioritizing what shows to give your free time to. Amazon Prime Video is going for broke this September, with the massive undertaking that is their adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” series, but that’s not all. Let’s take a look on everything coming to Amazon Prime Video in September.
The biggest show coming to Amazon Prime Video is, of course, the aforementioned “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” Though not associated with the spate of films directed by Peter Jackson as it’s a prequel, the trailers are playing up an equally ambitious and opulent sense of filmmaking. Amazon Prime Video is trying something different,...

“Spies With Scruples”
By Raymond Benson
In comparing Masquerade (1965) with a recent review of Arabesque (1966) here at Cinema Retro, this time we have yet another mid-1960s “comedy-spy thriller,” a genre that was crowding the cinemas in those days because of the success of Double-o-You-Know-Who.
In contrast to Arabesque, this one is a British production, directed by the prolific and often brilliant Basil Dearden, and it utilizes London locations as well as spots in Spain. And yet, despite the thoroughly British DNA running through 95% of the movie, it stars American Cliff Robertson as the hero, David Fraser, a sort of CIA type who seems to approach all the danger around him with misplaced naivete and amused detachment.
The script marks the first appearance of the great William Goldman in a screen credit (co-writing with Michael Relph). It’s based on Vincent Canning’s novel,...
