Maybe one or 2 scares. A bit thrilling. A bit goofy. Not too bad. Kinda an okay slasher film. Moderate twist in here! We enjoyed it. It's fun even if it's not the greatest

Trick won't win any awards anytime soon, but it's far from the disaster many people have been making it out to be. I walked in expecting the worst, but the first 20 minutes genuinely gripped me and even made me jump once. As the film continues, it mostly becomes a Dr. Loomis vs. Michael Myers storyline with Omar Epps' frazzled detective trying to make sense of how a seemingly normal teenage male could survive a few gunshots and a fall off a hospital roof and still continue to kill people every Halloween for a number of years. Could it be a copycat killer? You'll have to stick with Trick to find out and, once you do, you'll most likely be let down.
While most of the film plays out like a supernatural-tinged slasher, the last 15 minutes of the movie, where the film finally reveals what's really been going on, is likely to inspire many groans and rolling eyes. There's a piece of an interesting idea in there, but it's not as well-executed as it could have been. There's a final twist at the end that's really a groaner and makes no sense whatsoever.
The acting is at least passable for most of the film and it's nice to see genre icon Tom Atkins getting something to do every now and then. It also might be one of the better of the recent "the corpses in this haunted house are real" movies that seem to be coming out all the time. There's some good suspense here and there, too, so Trick is far from a complete waste of time.

Super cheesy but I really enjoyed this movie. But there's def worse movies. I didn't have high expectations going into it. Pretty gory. Lots of deaths. I'll put this below lumberjack man. People are way to critical with their reviews. It's not a movie that tries to be serious or tries to be a hit. Just is a fun over the top horror serial killer movie. Shesh just learn to be open minded and have fun with it. I give the people reviewing a 1 for being boring over critical reviewers and the movie a 6 for keeping me entertained

The first half of this movie is decently good relative to the budget. The quality in the second half of the movie drops off exponentially as it runs. The movie then commits suicide by dragging the ending out to ridiculous lengths.
Half way through the movie - 6 3/4 way through the movie - 5 Interminable ending - 3
All considered, this movie is a ~4

I had some hope for "Trick", it being a Halloween themed movie and directed by Patrick Lussier, whose "Drive Angry" is one of my guilty pleasures. Sadly, "Trick" tricked me & turned out to be a bad substandard movie, and not the so-bad-it's-good type.
It took only a few minutes to understand that it's not going to be a great ride and it took an hour for me to give up and check how much of the runtime there's left. "Trick" is an extremely flat and dull horror flick, it will very likely fail to raise any emotions in you and will maybe mildly entertain you. Then again, I can see how "Trick" qualifies for dumb fun. For me it wasn't fun, mostly just dumb. At least half of the plot details, some of the character design and their actions are unrealistic, awkward and, at the worst, irritating. The pacing is actually pretty fast, it's just that the happenings on screen are not very engaging. It doesn't help that the ending twists can be predicted easily as well. Acting's okay, but it doesn't even matter on the background of all the flaws. The killer is seriously dull. Even technically "Trick" is boring, lighting is all the same, doesn't matter if it's day or night, a lot of the camera work (during the uninspired action sequences) looks like a complete overkill & even the original score is cheap and cliche. One thing I think we all hoped for is that there's at least some awesome kills - well, that's not the case. The kills are mostly all the same, unimpressive & not very creative. You know, even Tom Atkins didn't save this movie.
If I'm grasping at straws "Trick" does have two minor qualities - near the end the already n-th unrealistic plot moves made me laugh a bit, it's kinda hilarious. And the other quality is it simply being a halloween themed movie. It offers no treats though. My rating (and it's generous): 3/10.

First thing is, don't waste your time or money. Concept is fantastic, but script, acting, camera angles, directing, editing, makeup, you name it, all terrible!
Even several shots where the "actors" were looking at the camera. Really?
Treat yourself, by not watching Trick!

Worried about Omar's career after this. He is wasted in nonsense like this and this has career killer written all over it. This is a story that looks better suited for a single hand held camera by a 13 year old filming his (or her) friends in the back yard. The lead bad guys back story is so I'll defined none of what he does has any real power is this just revenge is he mortal. The acting is mostly garbage and besides an odd bit of 90s nostalgia with Jamie Kennedy who if you were wondering what happened to him he apparently fell in a box of Ding Dongs and couldn't get out. A quick heads up to those middle aged guys out there Ding Dongs while clearly not good for the waistline also contribute to male pattern baldness. The unfortunate part that sinks in as the movie closes is that this is meant to be a franchise. Please god no!!!

First off, I do find Patrick Lussier to be a talented guy. This was the fourth film I've seen of his, after Dracula 2000, My Bloody Valentine, and Drive Angry. I would rank Trick last out of those as I was a bit turned off by this film.
The movie opens with a Halloween party that gets gruesome after a kid named Trick starts slaughtering his acquaintances only to meet his match at the hospital at the hands of a detective played by Omar Epps, only the killer disappears, Michael Myers style. In each of the following Halloween's, the murders pop up again. Is it Trick, or is it a copycat? Only Epps believes that his nemesis Trick is continuing the onslaught.
My biggest problem with this film is the villain, and his continuous battles with Epps and his police cohorts. Trick wears a mask and paints his face and wears a hoodie. He looks more like a punk than a monster, and his constant twirling of a knife becomes bothersome. He also has a knack to run away from those pursuing him and their gunfire. He can slip out of their grasp like a fish.
Trick does have its moments and features plenty of blood for horror fans. Omar Epps is good in the lead and Tom Atkins is always welcome in a genre that he is no stranger to.
Trick ran in a whopping 1 theater here in Detroit and has not shown up in box office reports.

This movie follows the stories of several police, who often forget they have firearms, radios, and are really bad at chasing teenagers 5 to 15 feet away from them. One of the biggest complaints constantly lobbied at horror films is stupid main characters, and this point is only made more frustrating when the main characters are trained law enforcement officers. There are countless scenes where the movies eponymous villain taps his knife taunting the officers, who are all armed, and they don't shoot him. There is a scene where the cops don't call for back up or a hospital, stating instead, it will be faster if they drive... If you didn't want your main villain to just be shot and have it ended to early... than maybe have him face less armed foe like teenagers instead. Otherwise, the acting was mostly fine, the camera work was fair.. Just a very dumb film.

I was forced to watch it. In it's entirety, much to my protestations. The worst possible scripting, acting and story. Absolutely nothing made sense. A stupid killer with even dumber victims standing around to get killed. Seriously...please...do NOT waste your time. Anyone giving this more than one star is totally clueless or just having a good joke on you.

This movie has just managed to stay out of the B league and it's certainly one of the best, in its genre, that I've seen for a good while. Certainly worth watching, but do remember that it is not a high budget movie but it was well executed.

For this genre, slasher/horror, I guess it's an okay movie. There will never be gems in this genre and this one isn't one either, but it's watchable if you like a bit of gore and a dumb mindless story. Because that's what it basically is, a vilain that looks like he can't be killed or injured, a bunch of cops that outdumb each other constantly, a whole bunch of bad decisions, mixed with a lot of slashing and blood, and you get Trick. Too bad there are so much dumb scenes otherwise it could have been better.

In a world of remake crap- this ones fresh and good- just try it and you'll like it if you are into slasher movies... don't dissect or overthink it- just enjoy it- I'm certain you'll agree it's good!
Ok, so the kills were done quite well and Omar Epps is always good for the money. However the camera, editing and direction are woeful, angles, interaction and the rest of the cast are terrible. It must have been on an experimental day/week etc.
This movie was awesome...Its not going to win any acting awards, but man it was a lot of fun...If you love horror movies like I do, you should enjoy it as well..
It was however really ridiculous that a certain black character should have died multiple times but didn't...I mean getting shot 4 times is usually enough for anyone, but not this dude lol...give me a break
Still, its going to be a yearly tradition to watch this around Halloween for me..Check it out!

The gore was there that's for sure. This is one of the most violent slashers I think I've seen so far. Not all the acting was bad but some were just painful to watch. The most annoying thing about this whole movie was the insanely loud music and background noise. It was over the top and made it so hard to make out what some of them were even saying. Biggest pet peeve in movies and this one nailed it. Between that and the rest of the bad editing with shaky camera and bad angles in every shot.
Other than that it wasn't a terrible movie, but it wasn't really that great either.

No detective or police force in history is this Dumb & clueless! Terrible directional & writing incompetence at it's highest! Even for a slasher movie the viewers intellectual property was compromised!

This man was responsible for the better than average remake of My Bloody Valentine!! WTF happened?? The production values of a made for TV movie. Why are they doing a police likeness of a killer they already know?!? Plot holes galore. CG blood effects, you know the drill... this is not a great movie!!! Hope you return to form soon, this isn't it!
