This reminds me of my girl. Remember that one? Very similar vibe, similar idea too. It will not become a cult classic of a generation but it generally follows the same idea. This movie is very relatable to anyone who has ever had a childhood. I cannot fault this movie for not trying to rediscover the wheel, so to speak.
Two kids meet, seemingly out of not really having much to do at home (families too busy working all the time to pay attention) and go on an adventure in their local town/area. The main movie takes course over a literal day and we see the situations the kids get in and how they view the world, and to an extent, how the world views them.
I was hoovering between a 6 and a 7 rating but them putting all that detail into the brazil scene (you will see) had me laughing hard and sealed it at 7. There are several memorable scenes but that one is absolutely spot on. And is simply hilarious yet so sad.. They get a point for that. Come to think of it many things in this movie are sad. Adulthood is sad. And it is very clearly hinted here consistently.
