Four of the seven historians interviewed wrote a public letter of protest against how their comments were edited and the way the series portrayed its subject matter.
This series was condemned by the Russian foreign department in press statement by Maria Zakharova as a "falsification of our common history", distorting facts and glorifying the SS.
