Ouija Mummy Directed by Sébastien Godin, from a screenplay co-written with Dustin Hubbard, the C Word Production-Melting Man Films production.
Ouija Mummy opens up, with in my opinion one of M. Catherine Wynkoop's finest performances. She plays Cassandra Alexander and archeologist who just came home from Egypt. After a successful dig uncovering and ancient necklace. Once belonging to Ahhotep I (voiced by Cayt Feinics). She is possessed by the spirit of Anubis (Eight the Chosen One) and hypnotized into taking a bottle of sleeping pills from the voices whispering to her.
A young couple now move Into her house and the fun begins. Chase and Natalie Logan ( Kii Hornick and Briana Wyman). The exchanges between these very skilled actors is a delight to watch. As they deliver there lines you get drawn into what's unfolding. Kii is a free going nice down to earth type of guys that translates well with his performance. He is the guy you would want to hang with for a good time.
Most of the time before the action starts is spent with Chase and his scene stealing brother Paul (Sebastien Godin). Not to be downplayed is the equally important girl talk between Natalie and her good friend Becca (Sharla Darcus Moore). The Director builds his story around these characters and gives us a treat. A horror movie were the characters are developed and give great performances to hold your attention. Paired with some of the best cinematography it's visually appealing. Seb unique camera angles and lightning are fun to watch.
After a get together and the Ouija Board is taken out the fun starts and never ends. The possession is unleashed and the terror begins. Demonic transformations and gory Fx are not spared and are on par with movies with much bigger budgets.
Yet with Ouija Mummy they don't hide bad performances or story. They are equally blended together and all shine.
Along with many cameos from the Genre you have Bob Glazier as the mailman, Brett Kelly as Chases Uncle and the always fun to watch Joel D Wynkoop as a whacky delivery man. Joel has the most disgusting greasy bag I have ever seen. That personally disturbed me more than all the chaos unfolding.
Dustin Hubbard is one of the hardest working producers. He once again helps deliver a outstanding movie that stands out and is worth repeat viewings and certainly worth a purchase. You can also see Sebastien Godin growing with every movie he makes. This will sure get people talking. I'm thrilled to see what's next.
