Not very. Midsummer is indeed celebrated outdoors with dancing, singing, food and collecting flowers, but it's much more light-hearted, more laughter and smiles, no violence. This film is supposed to be about ancient Norse or Pagan cultures and tribes that are long lost but still living in seclusion. Some researchers believe that ancient Norse, Celts and other Pagans may have practiced human sacrifices, which is unclear since what we know about these ancient cultures/religions is limited and mostly from folklore and legends. This film plays off our worst fears and imaginations about such ancient lost Pagan cultures.

They are other members of the Hårga community, like Pelle, returning home from the outside world. Only Pelle and his brother brought outsiders along.
