One cool feature that’s relatively unique to Amazon Prime Video is the streamer’s X-Ray feature, which pops up the name of an actor or the music you’re currently hearing or seeing on screen when you pause the show. No need to go to IMDb to figure out where you recognize that guy from or to Shazam that song — so long as you’re actually watching a show or movie on Amazon.

Now Amazon Prime Video is extending that X-Ray feature a step further by summarizing full episodes or even entire seasons of TV through the push of a button. The company is calling it “X-Ray Recaps,” and it’s available now in Beta version on Amazon MGM Originals and for Fire TV users specifically.

Amazon has turned to AI to create recaps for TV shows on Prime Video — starting with its own original series — in a way the company says won’t risk revealing spoilers.

On Monday, Amazon announced X-Ray Recaps on Prime Video, touting the generative-ai-based feature as “delivering a new way to get up to speed without wasting time or risking spoilers.” The system creates text of “brief, easy-to-digest summaries” of full seasons of TV shows, single episodes or specific segments of episodes “down to the exact minute of where you are watching,” the company said.

At launch, Prime Video viewers can use X-Ray Recaps for all Amazon MGM Studios original series including “The Boys” (pictured above), “Upload,” “Daisy Jones & the Six,” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and “The Wheel of Time.” X-Ray Recaps, currently in beta, is available now to users of Amazon’s Fire TV connected devices in the U.

In fact, the singer who shared vocals (and decades of triumphs and tribulations) with her Fleetwood Mac bandmates Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie has never even heard of the Broadway smash.

In a new Rolling Stone interview promoting her latest song “The Lighthouse” (which she performed on Saturday Night Live earlier this month – just four blocks from the home of Stereophonic), Nicks was asked whether she had seen the play, which, among other storylines, chronicles the crumbling of a relationship between a Stevie-like singer and a Lindsey-like guitarist.

A former sound engineer who coauthored a 2012 memoir about his days working on the Fleetwood Mac album Rumours has filed a lawsuit, along with his coauthor of the book Making Rumours, against the makers of Broadway’s smash hit play Stereophonic, alleging that playwright David Adjmi relied on portions of Making Rumours in the creation of the similarly themed Broadway play.

Stereophonic, the suit states, “copies the heart and soul of Making Rumours, and is substantially similar.”

Stereophonic is perhaps best described as a roman a clef of Fleetwood Mac and the mid-’70s making of what would be their 1977 masterpiece Rumours. The play, which does not use the band members’ names or songs, fashions its characters and situations in ways that align closely to Mac’s classic line-up of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Reese Witherspoon is adding “published author” to her résumé.

Ben Sevier, president & publisher of Grand Central Publishing, announced Wednesday the acquisition of a new suspense novel by Witherspoon and best-selling author and TV creator Harlan Coben.

The novel is Witherspoon’s debut and is based on her original idea. In addition to writing and publishing the novel, a screen adaptation is also in development.

Witherspoon said in a statement, “To say I am a fan of Harlan’s body of work is a massive understatement … the fact that he found my idea for this thriller intriguing enough to want to partner with me on it as co-author is a dream becoming a reality. Scheming with Harlan on how to thrill audiences with mysterious characters and complex narrative twists and turns has already been more fun than I can describe. I can’t wait for everyone to read what we have been imagining.

Outside of her acting and producing work, Reese Witherspoon is known to tout other people’s novels via her Reese’s Book Club. Soon, she’ll be touting a book of her own.

Witherspoon announced that she is co-writing a thriller novel with bestselling mystery author Harlan Coben. Witherspoon did not yet reveal the title of the book, but it is set for publication on Oct. 14, 2025, according to a preorder webpage. Timothy Olyphant is set to appear in the untitled golf comedy series starring Owen Wilson at Apple TV+, Variety has learned exclusively.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bay is in talks to direct "an acerbic fantasy series" entitled "Barbaric" for Netflix, which is based on the Vault Comics series of the same name.

"Barbaric" is due to star Sam Claflin (from "The Hunger Games" and most recently "Daisy Jones and the Six") and Patrick Stewart (Professor X and Captain Picard himself), with Sheldon Turner of "X-Men: First Class" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" acting as writer and executive producer of the series.

“Daisy Jones & the Six” star Camila Morrone is set to join Tom Hiddleston in a new season of “The Night Manager.”

The hit show, based on John le Carré’s bestselling novel of the same name, is returning for two new seasons from BBC and Prime Video, which will see Hiddleston reprise his role as Jonathan Pine, who works in a hotel after leaving the army.

The new season, which is set to start shooting later this year, will pick up eight years after Season 1. “The Crown” star Elizabeth Debicki played Pine’s secret lover Jed Marshall in the first season. She is not expected to return.

Morrone’s character in the new season has not been revealed. Morrone previously played Camila Dunne in “Daisy Jones and the Six” alongside Riley Keough and Sam Claflin. She has also appeared in feature “Marmalade” and “Gonzo Girl,” opposite Willem Dafoe and Patricia Arquette.
