I adore wrestling but truth be told the WWE product has been grinding on me to such an extent I'll often read results instead of watching it (Especially when it comes to television shows). The booking is often baffling, counter productive, riddled with nepotism and a clear inability to listen to the fans.
Wrestlemania 35 was setup to have 3 big finishes that could blow the roof off the arena (Metaphorically as the arena in fact didn't have a roof). Would they at least get those right and would the rest be better than expected?
Well again the entire ppv was a huge mixed bag, glossed over as every Mania is to disguise the fact it's not the grand spectacle it once was. I mean seriously, did you see the ramp? It looked like a giant black slip n'slide! What happened to the days that was a series of monitors to display a persons titantron/colors beneath them as they made their entrance?
If I break this down I'll likely venture into spoiler territory which I have no intention of doing. What I will say is many of the outcomes were logical, yet quite frankly underwhelming and felt more than slightly botched.
Other areas were illogical, damaged their stars more than helped them and ultimately made absolutely made no sense.
The show had very few surprises and though I have no issue with its immense length I do have issue with watching a show for that many hours if a large chunk of it is going to be further demonstration that they have no idea how to protect/push their stars in a logical fashion.
Big, flashy, foolish.
The Good:
Some decent performances
Less predictable than usual
Some great entrances
A couple of feel good moments
Some logical booking
The Bad:
A fair bit of usual stupidity
Some moronic outcomes
Rushed Universal Championship match
Some of the arena looked ridiculous
John Cena segment
Angles retirement
Further misuse of many of its stars
