Dwayne Johnson’s SmackDown promo with Cody Rhodes a few days back was intriguing as hell. Johnson made it clear that he wanted only one thing from Rhodes: his soul. The Rock told him that he needed an answer from Rhodes when they met again at the Elimination Chamber. Johnson has made another move towards his ‘agenda’ during the SmackDown episode on Friday.

The episode saw Rhodes being given many luxuries so that he could make a decision in favor of the Final Boss. At the end of the episode, The Rock himself appeared via satellite and gifted Rhodes a customized F-150 Raptor truck. He then made some comments about Rhodes’ late father, probably to emotionally manipulate Rhodes into taking the offer.

In 2024, you need to look no further than The Brutalist – a new feature from director and writer Brady Corbet. A grandiose epic in the vein of The Master and The Godfather, The Brutalist asks us to follow an immigrant story over decades. With Adrien Brody delivering a career-defining performance, the three-and-a-half-hour showcase overflows with ideas. Even with some slight pacing issues in the second half (Corbet builds in a fifteen-minute intermission), The Brutalist stamps itself as one of the early contenders for Best of the Decade honors.

American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing is a three-part Netflix documentary series directed by Floyd Russ.
A look back at the 2013 event, which ended the lives of three people and resulted in numerous injured. A true-crime of the American Manhunt series (Police Pursuit).
About the Series
Interviews with the protagonists and, above all, a great deal of police investigation in this docuseries, which also features previously unpublished images of the attack.
A shocked city and, above all, the ghost of the Twin Towers hovering over served to turn this terrible event into a phenomenon, which we now contemplate from a much more rigorous perspective in terms of its analysis. It is also a very human film and, most important for fans, it doesn’t betray the line of the series.
After Waco American Apocalypse, Netflix is back on track with a high-flying true-crime, with events of social repercussion that, although...

On April 15, 2013, two homemade pressure cooker bombs detonated near the finish line of the Boston Marathon route, killing three people and injuring hundreds of others. The brazen act of terrorism would lead to an intense four-day manhunt throughout eastern Massachusetts that would ultimately lead to the capture of one of the perpetrators and the death of the other.
The story of the Boston Marathon Bombing, as it would come to be known, is characterized by both the gritty resilience of the city that endured it and the unprecedented tactics that law enforcement would undertake to bring those involved to justice. With its new three-episode docuseries American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing, Netflix has now attempted to bring the definitive version of this historic event to its stream.
As its name suggests, American Manhunt is particularly focused on the frenzied effort to identify the bombers and then track them down. While the docuseries,...

It’s been a good year for several documentary filmmakers who sought and found distribution for independently made projects at major festivals. But for many nonfiction helmers, this year’s festival circuit hasn’t proven to be as fruitful as it once was.
Pre-pandemic, streaming services went to film fests to fill their slates, but now with media conglomerates consolidating, brands merging, and Netflix tightening its wallet, film fest documentary shopping sprees have slowed down. On top of mergers and economic unease, there’s been an increase in streamers like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple, and Disney either pre-buying docus or commissioning their own nonfiction projects.
Some of this year’s fest favorites were commissioned docus, including Tia Lessin and Emma Pildes’ ‘The Janes” (HBO), W. Kamau Bell’s “We Need to Talk About Cosby” (Showtime), Rory Kennedy’s “Downfall: The Case Against Boeing” (Netflix), and Ron Howard’s “We Feed People...

"The Disney company is ground zero of the widening inequality in America." An official trailer has debuted for the searing documentary film titled The American Dream and Other Fairy Tales, which originally premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. This is definitely the film that Disney does not want you to see because it shatters their perfect image as this fairytale company that makes all your (and your kids') dreams come true, primarily by underpaying workers and exploiting labor worldwide for their greedy gain. Dr. Abigail E. Disney looks at America's dysfunctional and unequal economy and asks why the "American Dream" only seems to work for the wealthy, yet is a nightmare for people born with less. Using her family's story, Disney explores how this systemic injustice took hold and imagines a way toward a more equitable future. I saw this at Sundance and highly recommend this film to every last American.
