Fall is here, which means it’s time to bundle up on your couch and stream the weekend away. Let’s get into it: There’s plenty to enjoy in October on Netflix, from a new Ali Wong special to new seasons of shows like “Love Is Blind” and “Unsolved Mysteries.” The real unsolved mystery is how it feels like there is more “Love Is Blind” dropping every month, but I digress.
October also brings with it the chance to watch Season 1 of “Yellowjackets” (a Showtime hit) for the first time on the Netflix platform, as well as more “Outer Banks” and “The Lincoln Lawyer.” The best bet, however, is the return of Keri Russell.
Top Pick: “The Diplomat” Season 2
Russell returns as U.S. ambassador to the U.K. Kate Wyler in this “The Americans” meets “Homeland” Emmy-nominated hit. Season 1 ended with a massive cliffhanger, so the six-episode Season...

Quoting Jake Peralta, it is a well-known fact that Nicolas Cage is one of the greatest and most compelling actors of all time. Over the years, he has forced Hollywood to notice his range as an actor, and it is safe to say, he has made a reputation for it. Just when fans thought that he could not play any more iconic roles like Ghost Rider and Snake Eyes, he went and starred in the bone-chilling, Longlegs.

The film caught the attention of the fans almost as soon as its trailer was released, and the way that it delivered its horror left many stunned. What made audiences all the more surprised was that Cage was put front and center as the titular antagonist of the movie. Scarlett Johansson’s plethora of successful movies has cemented her status as a major star in the Hollywood business. However, even she is not immune to controversies that stir public debate. One such instance was her involvement in the movie Ghost in the Shell, adapted from a beloved Japanese manga.

But the movie faced severe backlash for casting Johansson, a White actress, for the role of Major Motoko Kusanagi (live-action Mira Killian), a character who is Japanese. However, despite this outrage, the actress in a past interview detailed she may return for a sequel. But her participation depends on one crucial condition.

As a filmmaker, M. Night Shyamalan has been a household name for 25 years, starting in 1999, when he ruled the end of the summer with “The Sixth Sense.” You can basically divide the Shyamalan oeuvre into four periods. There was the era when he was an A-list visionary who some compared to Spielberg. There was the era when he began to lapse into self-parody, and when the whole notion of the Shyamalan twist ending became less an entertainer’s trademark than a sign of the rut he was in.
There was the period when he left all that behind to reinvent himself as an anonymous sci-fi craftsman. And then there was the comeback era that began with “Split” (2016), his big hit featuring James McAvoy as a chatterbox psycho with multiple-annoying-personality disorder. From that point on, the Shyamalan brand regained a kind of parody of its former luster. People were coming out to see his films again,...

Daniel Craig left some rather large shoes to fill after he exited as James Bond with his final Bond film “No Time to Die” in 2021. Three years on and we are seemingly no closer to finding out who the new 007 is than we were right after that movie. But… the debate around who we think should be the next Bond rages on, with every film fan having their own thoughts on who would be best suited for the role.
Craig himself was a stark departure from the ultra-suave Pierce Brosnan before him, with Craig bringing more grit, brutality, and gruff vulnerability to the role. Will producer Barbara Broccoli go for the same type as Craig, will they revert back to the smoothness of a Brosnan-type, or will they go for something different entirely? Well, here’s an extensive list of 30 actors who could theoretically take up the mantle of 007 next.

Batman is one of the most loved DC Superheroes. The Caped Crusader is also a superhero who has been treated fairly when it comes to having his standalone video games. That is because the Batman Arkham series was a milestone and a benchmark for superhero video games.
While there haven’t been a lot of hit superhero video games that have been phenomenal, Marvel’s Spider-Man is undoubtedly one of the best superhero video games in the last decade. But, like The Dark Knight, many other superheroes from DC Comics deserve their own video game.

Would The Matrix starring Will Smith as Neo and Val Kilmer as Morpheus still be as legendary? Fans will never get to live in this reality as the Wachowskis’ modern-day classic changed the sci-fi and action genres with Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne in those roles. The film was one of the highest-grossing films of the year and redefined the sci-fi genre.
Will Smith has turned down many roles in his career but the Bad Boys star reportedly regrets turning down Neo the most. He mentioned that he could not see the vision of the filmmakers as he had received an awful pitch from the Wachowskis. He mentioned that their terrible pitch for The Matrix involved a very crude explanation for the iconic ‘bullet time’ sequence.

Even the best filmmakers in history take big, ambitious swings and completely miss the mark at times. In the case of Brian De Palma – the supremely talented New Hollywood director behind such all-time great classics as Carrie, Dressed to Kill, Blow Out, Scarface, The Untouchables, Carlito’s Way, and more – many consider his most glaring cinematic blemish to be tone deaf adaptation of The Bonfire of the Vanities in 1990. However, if general moviegoers and De Palma fans knew about the crushing production woes relating to the ending of his uneven 1998 crime thriller Snake Eyes, perhaps they’d reassess their opinion.
Indeed, the original ending of Snake Eyes is so drastically different than what transpires at the end of the theatrical cut that it’s nearly impossible to judge the movie’s intentional merits versus the final product. Of course, the grand irony about the brutally botched ending of Snake Eyes is...

Baldur’s Gate 3 was a title that set the standard for immersive RPGs for the gaming industry with its release in 2023. Baldur’s Gate 3 has won numerous awards at various ceremonies, including the GotY award. It suffices to say that it did wonders for the RPG genre and its developer, Larian Studios.
Hasbro, the company known to make toys, also benefited from the game’s launch due to a deal between Larian and the former’s subsidiary, Wizards of the Coast, known for publishing Dungeons and Dragons. One of the biggest names in the toy market is looking to expand its horizons and bet on the gaming industry’s bright future.

Even in the face of exciting and thrilling superhero games, Batman: Arkham trilogy games are still considered to be one of the greatest. The primary reason for the trilogy’s popularity goes to the exceptional gameplay mechanics, immersive storytelling, and faithful adaptation of the comics, captivating both casual gamers and the ardent Dark Knight fans.
Batman in the Batman: Arkham Trilogy
With a superior combat system neatly integrated with innovative stealth gameplay, the game features some of the most iconic locations and a plethora of gadgets to take down the thugs and the supervillains. However, the trilogy also features a rich narrative that focuses on every minute detail. Needless to say, gamers enjoyed every minute of playing the trilogy.
It looks like a Snake Eyes game from the G.I. Joe franchise is in the works and it is heavily inspired by the Batman Arkham games.

Two of Hasbro’s most popular toy lines are set to be combined onscreen as the Transformers and GI Joe franchises are all set for a crossover movie.
A movie crossover between Transformers and GI Joe has been on the table for a long, long time. We first heard it mooted all the way back in 2016 when Hasbro pulled together a writers’ room to hash out a cinematic future for its action-centric toy lines.
In the years since, both franchises have faced waning interest so to Hasbro and Paramount, it looks like sticking them together to try and reinvigorate interest in both properties seems like as good an idea as any other.
In fairness, the comic book histories of both Transformers and GI Joe have a rich history of crossover stories. There was one in the 1980s that fans really enjoyed, while one more recent tale that transplanted the robot...

Chris Hemsworth, the voice of a young Optimus Prime, and Brian Tyree Henry, the voice of a young Megatron, got an enthusiastic welcome at CinemaCon as they introduced a first look and 3D scene from “Transformers One,” Paramount’s animated origin story based on the Hasbro toys. “This origin story is how they transformed from brothers in arms to sworn enemies,” said Henry from Las Vegas on Thursday.
In the clip, Optimus Prime, Megatron and their friends “proven worthy” are given their powers to transform — and awkwardly get accustomed to using those powers. They then enter a cargo train and for the first time see the surface of their home planet Cybertron, where the movie is set. The stylized look of the surface is a vast environment of rock-like structures that, like the bots, grow and transform.

After 2007’s Transformers became a huge box office hit, Hasbro would pull from another of their popular properties that also had a place in pop culture with an 80s cartoon — G.I. Joe. However, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra would not do the kind of numbers that Transformers had brought in, and the style was surprisingly geared more towards the Michael Bay film with some sci-fi twists rather than a more straight-forward military combat movie with colorfully eccentric characters. The sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, would offer more of what many would come to expect from the property and had actually become more successful commercially (mostly thanks to Dwayne Johnson‘s star power).

Earlier this week, we caught word that Universal Pictures is moving forward with a new entry in the Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise – which is no surprise, since the Jurassics and Fast & Furious are the studio’s two big moneymakers. What’s interesting about this new sequel is the fact that the screenplay is being written by David Koepp, who previously wrote the original Jurassic Park and its follow-up The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Now paleontologist and evolutionary biologist Steve Brusatte has taken to social media to confirm that the project is moving forward – and he knows, because it’s so far along that he has already signed on to be the dinosaur expert consultant on it. That’s a job Brusatte also had on the previous movie, Jurassic World Dominion, where he was consultant alongside paleontologist Jack Horner, who has been a consultant on all six Jurassic movies to date.

Hasbro introduced the world to G.I. Joe as a series of action figures in the '60s. Originally as 12-inch figures, the line was successful for the toy company. But when the line was relaunched in the early '80s as smaller-scale figures complete with accessories, such as vehicles and playsets, the whole enterprise really took off. It led to a series of Marvel Comics adaptations, animated shows, and yes, big-budget feature films.
Paramount Pictures brought the "G.I. Joe" franchise to life in live-action beginning in 2009, and several films have been produced since. But the titles don't make it clear which films to watch first, necessarily, and for those hoping to catch up with the Real American Heroes at home, some clarity could be useful. Sad news for fans of Warrior, as the action-packed Max series has been canceled after three seasons.
The series was based on an original concept by Bruce Lee and stars Andrew Koji as Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances and becomes a hatchet man for one of Chinatown’s most powerful crime families. The first two seasons of Warrior aired on Cinemax, but when the series was renewed for a third season, it was announced that it would move to Max.
While Warrior will continue to stream on Max for the time being, it will have an additional home next year. Netflix picked up the non-exclusive rights to all three seasons of Warrior, with the series expected to debut in February 2024. Japan’s new production incentives scheme dominated discussions at the Motion Picture Association’s special talk session at the Tokyo International Film Festival on Wednesday.
Officially launched in September, the 1 billion yen ($6.7 million) scheme is by far the largest from Japan to date, although it is smaller than the production incentives offered by many other countries, most notably Thailand.
The deadline for applications for the current fiscal year to March 2024 has already closed and the entire budget appears to have been allocated. The scheme is expected to be renewed in April, but no official announcement has yet been made.
Despite the push by Japan’s government to attract more international film and TV production to the country, the clear message from this year’s MPA seminar was that the scheme needs to be expanded and made permanent if Japan is to not lose out on major projects. The seminar focused...

When people think of Frank Castle on the silver screen, actors like Jon Bernthal and Dolph Lundgren come to mind. However, the late Ray Stevenson‘s portrayal in Lexi Alexander’s 2008 crime-drama Punisher: War Zone hides in the shadows of the character’s cinematic history. The film was planned as a sequel to 2004’s The Punisher, starring Thomas Jane and John Travolta. War Zone picks up five years into the anti-hero’s journey into darkness, with Frank encountering his most significant threat in the villain Jigsaw, played by Dominic West.

Based on a true story, the film follows young Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) as he gets the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go from a video game racer to a real race car driver. It all started with Gran Turismo game creator Kazunori Yamauchi (Takehiro Hira) who got ahold of an automobile simulator and transformed it into a very real racing experience for gamers. Dreamer and Nissan marketing executive Danny Moore (Orlando Bloom) took the love for the game a step further by giving the best players a chance to go through a Gran Turismo academy to compete for the chance at racing on some of the professional courses featured in the game.

Paramount attempted to revamp the G.I. Joe franchise with Snake Eyes, but the film became a box-office bomb which received mostly negative reviews, and it’s something Andrew Koji saw coming from the beginning.
Andrew Koji played Storm Shadow in Snake Eyes, and while speaking with Inverse (before the SAG-AFTRA strike began), the actor said that he knew the G.I. Joe reboot wasn’t going to be a success. “Hollywood is just obsessed with telling the same old thing over and again,” Koji said. “Firstly, remakes. Secondly, it’s got to be based on IP. Third, it’s so absurd because I’m just like, hold on. People want originality. Where is it? What is going on here? Snake Eyes didn’t do too well, which I knew it wasn’t going to. I think they’re probably going to reboot from the ground up. I’m cool.

I think they’re probably going to reboot from the ground up. I’m cool.

Sandwiched between The Bonfire of the Vanities and Carlito’s Way–ostensibly the two extremes of De Palma’s career–it’s easy for Raising Cain...
