Thanks Mt Vic Flix for screening this Joyful celebration which took place 2 weeks before the momentous vote for Marriage Equality in 2017.
The Coming Back Out Ball Movie is a life-affirming love letter to the ageing LGBTIQ+ community in Australia" and I suspect that any young at heart open minded person of any sexual persuasion of any age would enjoy this fine documentary.
There were only 6 people on the first screening today but I hope it's house full on the weekend.
The film is put together and edited so well and has a universal message that age and life experience is precious and should be respected by the entire community .
Organised by Melbourne group All the Queens Men the ball sequences at the end are fabulously filmed with guest performances by Carlotta, Deborah Cheetham and my all time favourite lesbian performer Robyn Archer .
Director Sue Thomson is to be congratulated for a film that is entertaining, educational and most importantly in an age where Youth is over emphasised as the measure of success , fashion and fun that a story of anonymous ageing but vital members of our GLBTQI Community get a chance to be treated like Royalty and appreciated for lives that have experienced vilification, discrimination and get together to party with all the vitality of teenagers at a Dance Party minus the drugs.
It's an inspirational documentary.
