We’ve seen other big-screen franchises make the leap to TV over the years, but could Fast & Furious be next?
While speaking with Variety, NBCUniversal Studio group chairman and chief content officer Donna Langley teased the future of the Fast & Furious franchise, saying there’s “still gas in the tank” even after the Fast X sequel hits theaters in 2026. Where the franchise goes from there is unclear, but Langley said, “We may pivot another time and bring it back to the streets of L.A. and maybe make it a more intimate story.” After mentioning previous NBCUniversal shows based on movies, such as Pitch Perfect and Ted, Langley said, “Fast and Furious is a good one” for a potential future TV series.

The entire “The Fast and Furious” universe consists of 13 installments: 10 movies, one show and two short films. The world of fast cars, illegal street racing and iconic beefs was created by Gary Scott Thompson. The writer, director and producer kicked off the franchise with the first film “The Fast and the Furious,” which was directed by Rob Cohen, with a story by Thompson and Ken Li.
The first film in what would become a country-hopping international franchise, starred Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Matt Schulze and Ricky Yune and more. “The Fast and the Furious” told the story of Dominic Toretto (Diesel), who has a passion and drive for street racing, and after a run-in with Johnny Tran (Yune), he takes racing newcomer Brian (Walker) under his wing. However, Dom and his sister Mia (Brewster) have no idea that he’s an undercover cop, and they are...

He's undoubtedly busy, but as Posey explained during E!'s Ones to Watch series in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, his goal is simple: "I'm just going to keep doing what I love, which is being creative in any way possible, and try to somehow help make the world a safer...

"The Fast Saga" 20th Anniversary is being celebrated this year, highlighting the billion dollar media franchise that started with the feature "The Fast and the Furious" (2001), as the first in a series of slick action films exploiting illegal street racing, car heists and international spying:
The franchise also includes short films, a television series, live shows, video games, and theme park attractions.
Universal expanded the series to include the spin-off film "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" (2019), while its subsidiary DreamWorks Animation followed this with the animated streaming TV series "Fast & Furious Spy Racers".
Soundtrack albums have been released for all the films, as well as compilation albums containing music heard in the films. Two short films that tie into the series have also been released.
The series is Universal's biggest franchise, and ranks as the seventh highest-grossing film series ever, with a combined gross of over $6 billion.

The launch of Disney+ in November 2019 was a declaration of war on licensing. If you wanted to watch anything Disney’s made, past, present, and future, now there was only one place to do it. It was the new testament for streaming, embraced by everyone from Netflix to HBO Max: Control the narrative by producing must-watch movies and shows for your own platform. So why is Comcast — which is still nursing its fledgling Peacock — weighing the possibility of giving “Fast & Furious,” “Jurassic World,” and other Universal franchise installments to… Netflix and HBO Max?

Pixar’s “Soul” and Apple/Gkids’s “Wolfwalkers” may have topped the Annie Award nominations with 10 each, but it was Netflix that walked away with the most nominations overall, picking up 40 across an array of projects.
Netflix scored six nominations each for its features “The Willoughbys” and “Over the Moon,” and three for “A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.” Other Netflix projects receiving nominations include “Hilda,” “The Midnight Gospel,” “Bojack Horseman,” “Big Mouth,” “Alien Xmas,” “Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy,” “The Christmas Chronicles 2,” “The Umbrella Academy,” “Bna,” “The Great Pretender,” “Blood of Zeus,” “Trash Truck,” “Buddi,” “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power,” “Fast & Furious: Spy Racers,” “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous,” “Tales of Arcadia: Wizards,” “Dragons Rescue Riders,” “Cops and Robbers” and “If Anything Happens I Love You.”

With Christmas now behind us, and 2021 fast approaching, it’s a good time to review all the new content that’s been added to Netflix in the last week. Highlights include the period drama Bridgerton, as well as Charlie Brooker’s Death to 2020 special, and the George Clooney-directed The Midnight Sky. What’s been made available, then, to the platform in the last seven days?
Well, on the movie side, Brooker’s Death to 2020 adapts his Screenwipe review format for Netflix, with the likes of Hugh Grant, Stranger Things‘ Joe Keery, and Samuel L. Jackson popping up in a fictional take on this year’s events. Given the quality of the recent Black Mirror entries from Brooker, we have high expectations for this new one-off, even if the world’s apparently been too bleak for a fresh batch of episodes. Another big original release, meanwhile, is Robert Rodriguez’s We Can Be Heroes,...

The Fast & Furious films love their over the top action. In the trailer for F9 alone we’ve got a “magnet plane” catching a car, a Jeep driving along a collapsing bridge, a car somehow catching a steel cable and using it launch itself across a gorge, and a car with a rocket engine strapped to it.
Spy Racers, the animated spin-off to Fast & Furious, is no exception to this. The show has often delved into its own over-the-top action and in the show’s third season, available now on Netflix, the show takes this action to another level. In in the fourth episode, ‘The Hunt’ the entire story is just one long action filled car chase. Not only that, it’s an action scene that’s a clear Mad Max send up.

Fast & Furious Spy Racers, like the entire Fast & Furious franchise, is all about family. Not a traditional type of family but one of different people not always connected by blood who come together for the greater good. It’s the main appeal of the Fast & Furious franchise to many of its fans and one that was slowly built over time in the films.
But with Spy Racers a whole new family had to be created from the jump and the team behind it didn’t have the luxury of several movies to slowly (and somewhat accidentally) create one. They had to come up with not only a family that could stand alongside the ones from the massively successful films but also appeal to the show’s younger demographic.

Every weekend a slew of new titles arrive across the various streaming services to satiate the millions of subscribers around the world who can’t seem to decide on what to watch, but things are a little different this week with Christmas Day falling on a Friday. That means a lot of food and alcohol-related hangovers and a general sense of laziness and malaise, so comfort eating and viewing will be the go-to options for a lot of folks over the next three days.
There are some heavy hitters coming to the multitude of platforms, too, with the Dceu’s blockbuster comic book sequel Wonder Woman 1984 and Pixar’s latest animation Soul arriving on HBO Max and Disney Plus respectively. Those two titles are guaranteed to dominate both the most-watched list and the conversation, but there are more than a few others that are definitely worth a watch, and you...

As we head closer to Christmas, now’s a good time to catch up on your Netflix viewing, and the platform have a lot of new movies and shows coming this week. Highlights include original features like The Midnight Sky, as well as drama Bridgerton, and fresh seasons of returning family series. Indeed, given the amount of content already added to the service this December, it shouldn’t be difficult to find something to watch over the holidays.
In terms of original films, the George Clooney-directed The Midnight Sky provides a timely story of an Arctic scientist trying to contact a team of astronauts before they return to a worldwide catastrophe. Based on a novel by Lily Brooks-Dalton, the cast also includes the likes of Felicity Jones and Kyle Chandler. Additionally, we’ll be getting the LGBT-themed Taiwanese picture Your Name Engraved Herein, Norwegian comedy sequel Asphalt Burning (Børning 3), and French production DNA.

Exclusive: NBC is developing Vantage Point, a character-driven thriller drama series based on the 2008 Sony movie. The TV adaptation comes from the film’s writer, Barry Levy, and producer, Neil H. Moriz via his Original Film, as well as Josh Berman’ Osprey Productions and Sony Pictures TV where Berman and Moritz have overall deals.
The film, which starred Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker, William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver, told the story of an assassination attempt on the President of the United States through the vantage points of different characters.
Here is how the TV series is described: In the age of fake news, the truth can seem inadequate at best and skewed at worst. By embracing a multitude of different perspectives – ranging from government operatives to civilian informants to innocent bystanders – viewers will find themselves in the unique position of deciding what actually happened.

The following contains spoilers for Fast & Furious Spy Racers season 2.
Fast & Furious Spy Racers is something a throwback to the past, a kids TV tie-in to a popular adult movie franchise. While the Fast & Furious films are no Rambo (which somehow got a kids cartoon) it’s still a challenge to take a well beloved franchise of films and turn them into a TV series meant for kids. That’s just what executive producer Tim Hedrick has done, taking elements of the Fast & Furious universe but making sure the show can stand on its own for kids which includes Vin Diesel’s own family.
Hedrick takes us into the process of pitching his take on the Fast & Furious franchise, referencing the films, working with Vin Diesel, and even touches on those rumors of the franchise going to space.

October’s Netflix collection has been quite fantastic so far, offering a wide variety of intriguing new things for fans of nearly every genre. Comedy lovers have been treated to classics like Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls and Employee of the Month, while those itching for dramatic storytelling are surely enjoying hits such as Gran Torino and Her. But most importantly, it’s almost Halloween, so Netflix has been pumping plenty of horror content onto the service, too.
If you’re searching for spooky flicks this holiday season, you’re sure to discover fresh selections like Rob Zombie’s gruesome House of 1000 Corpses and the brand new Adam Sandler comedy-horror Hubie Halloween, the latter of which has already proven to be a hugely popular addition to the platform. And if that wasn’t enough, you’re going to love what Netflix has dropped for you today, because one of...

This Fast & Furious Spy Racers review contains no spoilers.
There’s something undeniable about Fast & Furious: Spy Racers season 2 (subtitled Rio). No matter how wild the action gets, no matter what weird situations it has its lead characters land in, and no matter how many jokes come off as just plain bizarre, it’s just hard to shake how fun the show is. A few times throughout this second season I felt myself losing interest only for the show to do something that immediately brought it back with full force. It’s not appointment viewing but the newest season of Fast & Furious Spy Racers has a certain charm.
Picking up after the first season, Tony and the rest of the Spy Racers get a new assignment down in Rio. There’s not much to say about the plot except that it allows the gang to try out new spy gear,...

Netflix was ahead of the game for October, releasing its “Netflix and Chills” horror lineup in anticipation of the Halloween season. Now the streaming giant has unveiled its full lineup for October, and believe it or not: horror remains at the forefront of its strategy.
The biggest release this month is undoubtedly The Haunting of Bly Manor, Mike Flanagan’s long-awaited followup to terrifying Haunting of Hill House. That arrives on Oct. 9. The film side of things is where most of Netflix’s other horror originals reside, with Hubie Halloween (Oct. 7), A Babysitters’ Guide to Monster Hunting (Oct. 15), and Rebecca (Oct. 22) all making their debut.
Some non-horror originals of note this month include high school drama Grand Army (Oct. 16) and the Anya-Taylor Joy-starring chess story The Queen’s Gambit (Oct. 26). Aaron Sorkin’s latest film, The Trial of the Chicago 7, arrives on Oct. 16.

Netflix has ordered “Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles,” a new CGI animated kids’ series based on the award-winning “Usagi Yojimbo” comic books by Stan Sakai.
Produced by Gaumont, “Samurai Rabbit” marks the first animated TV adaptation inspired by Sakai’s comics. The show will follow a brand new character, teenage Rabbit Samurai Yuichi, a descendent of Miyamoto Usagi, the protagonist of the “Usagi Yojimbo” comic books.
Per Netflix, “The series takes place in the far future, set in a world that mixes modern high-tech images with classic Japanese references. It follows the teenage Rabbit Samurai Yuichi, descendent of the great warrior Miyamoto Usagi, on his epic quest to become a true samurai. But he isn’t alone! He leads a ragtag team of misfit heroes – including a roguish bounty hunter, a cunning ninja, an acrobatic pickpocket and a faithful pet lizard – as he battles depth-charging moles, metal-tipped winged bats, and monsters from another dimension,...

A family-friendly version of the “Fast & Furious” world revved up at Universal City’s AMC Theatre on Saturday, with Vin Diesel bringing 11-year-old daughter Similce to the premiere of the Netflix and DreamWorks animated series, “Fast & Furious: Spy Racers,” which features both of their voices and Diesel as an executive producer.
The streaming show is the first TV spinoff of the 18-year-old film franchise and will tide fans over before “Fast & Furious 9” hits theaters next May. “Fast & Furious: Spy Racers” focuses on Dominic Toretto’s cousin Tony (voiced by “Teen Wolf’s” Tyler Posey) and his group of young, spy-race recruit friends. Similce lends her voice to the newly created character of Sissy Benson, the sister of one of Tony’s crew members, Frostee (voiced by Luke Youngblood). “Fast & Furious: Spy Racers” marks her acting debut.

Fast & Furious: Spy Racers takes the franchise to where it’s been heading for the past four installments. It’s finally become what the movies so desperately wish they could be but can’t. It’s the ultimate culmination of Dom hurtling from the top of one skyscraper to another, Roman shouting, “Ejecto Seat-o, Cuz!” and Hobbs catching and redirecting a missile from a submarine
It’s a cartoon.
These movies have been operating on cartoon logic for years and that’s made them “love ‘em” or “can’t understand why people love them”. You either get what makes these movies fun or they’re not for you. There’s very little middle ground with the Fast & Furious franchise but Spy Racers may be able to bridge that...
