Glimmer Peak is the kind of small town where nothing ever happens. However, the local police department finds itself off guard when the town is hit by a series of unexplainable child abductions. With no witnesses, no evidence, and no discernible connection between the missing children, the local Sheriff (BRIAN KRAUSE) has reached a dead end.
Meanwhile, the Sheriff's restless niece Sofia (JEARNEST CORCHADO), is stuck under house arrest in the home she shares with her beleaguered, widowed mother, Rebecca (MARISOL NICHOLS), and her younger sister, Amelia (BELLA STINE). With plenty of free time on her hands and nothing else better to do, Sofia begins a daily ritual of spying on her immediate neighbors, including Murphy (PEDRO CORREA), her former classmate and crush; and her mysterious new neighbor Boyd (JACK ERDIE).
It isn't long before Sofia starts to suspect that Boyd might be the one responsible for the abductions. However, in order to convince her uncle to arrest him, she knows she'll need proof. Recruiting her younger sister to help, Sofia starts investigating the suspicious, and potentially dangerous, stranger who lives next door. However, the more she investigates, the more she realizes that she might have been mistaken. What if the reason the police can't find the kidnapper... is because the kidnapper isn't human?
Sofia recalls a story her mother used to tell her about a Latin American boogeyman known as the Cucuy. According to the legend, the Cucuy would come at night to snatch misbehaving children and take them back to his cave to be eaten.
Is it possible that the Cucuy has come to Glimmer Peak?
As children continue to disappear without a trace, and the tragic incidents spread to her own home, Sofia realizes that she'll have to take matters into her own hands. Her only chance to save the children and stop the legendary evil is to locate the cave and confront the Cucuy herself... before it's too late.
