3 Faces is Jafar Panahi's fourth film made under his 20-year filmmaking ban imposed by the government of Iran, after This Is Not a Film (2011), Closed Curtain (2013), and Taxi (2015).
Jafar Panahi's first film to be premiered in Cannes Film Festival after 7 years. His last film in Cannes festival was This Is Not a Film (2011).
It was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, winning the award for Best Screenplay at the latter.
