- TriviaThe opening was filmed by a drone in one long shot which began about half a mile away from the building. Near the end when it flew down to the court, it had to be caught by a crew member who then held it like a normal camera for the remainder of the scene. Some computer modifications were made including the addition of the team banners and the small window that the drone flies through (the real window was significantly larger). The Kendrick's considered this to be the greatest opening scene in any of their movies. Many other brief clips throughout the film were also taken by drone.
- GoofsOn the second hospital visit between daughter and father (alone), a tight shot shows the father's bedside table with a water glass, tissue box, then TV remote. A few times, the director cuts to a wider, side-shot and the tissue box moves way over to his right, far from the water glass.

Hannah Scott: [to Coach Harrison] Ask me who I am.
John Harrison: Who is Hannah Scott?
Hannah Scott: I am created by God. He designed me. So I'm not a mistake. His Son died for me, just so I could be forgiven. He picked me to be His own, so I'm chosen. He redeemed me, so I am wanted. He showed me Grace, just so I could be saved. He has a future for me, because He loves me! So I don't wonder anymore, Coach Harrison. I AM a child of God! I just wanted you to know.

By way of summary: High school basketball coach John Harrison receives unfortunate news that the largest local manufacturing plant suddenly shuts down, forcing many families, and their kids, to leave in search of other job opportunities. John's dreams of winning the state basketball championship suddenly vanish. He very reluctantly agrees to coach the cross-country team where he meets a runner, the only member of his team, who is on her journey of discovery. John and his wife are inspired by their new friend in the hospital while John attempts to help the runner win the biggest race of the year.
It is heavily Christian based, which works fine for this movie although those who object to such subject likely will not like this movie. Filmed in Georgia.
