Actor, singer and producer Gippy Grewal has announced expansion of his ‘Carry On Jatta’ franchise but with a twist. Jattiye will replace Jatt in the new franchise titled ‘Carry On Jattiye’.

The makers of Abhay Verma and Meera Chopra-starrer ‘Safed’ unveiled the teaser of the social drama on Thursday.

It showcases the victims of social oppression, and how the lead duo find solace, and redemption in each other, melting away their lonely existence.

Abhay, who is known for his work in ‘The Family Man’ and ‘Uljhe Hue’ is seen as ‘Chaandi’, while Meera Chopra, who has appeared in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films, and is known for projects like ‘Bangaram’, ‘Lee’, ‘Vaana’, ‘1920 London’ and ‘Section 375’ among others, is portraying the character of ‘Kaali’.

The film is a love story between a transgender (Chaandi) and a widow (Kaali).

New Delhi, Oct 16 (Ians) Cinemas in several states including Delhi-ncr opened doors to patrons on Friday after seven months the turnout everywhere has been far from impressive, owing to the Covid scare. Industry experts however are happy to resume operations and expect footfalls to improve by the weekend ahead.

The Centre has allowed 50 per cent occupancy in cinema halls as of now, amod stringent Covid precaution measures.

"We weren't expecting it to houseful from day one. We didn't even expect to have 50 per cent occupancy. About 50 to 60 people turned up for the 12 pm show of 'Housefull 4'," Raj Kumar Mehrotra, general manager at the Capital's Delite Cinema, told Ians.

"But we are very happy that things have started. Today, 50 to 60 people are sitting in the hall. If they inform their family members, that it is safe to watch a film in a theatre, then the cycle would start.

New Delhi, Oct 15 (Ians) With just a few hours left for cinema halls in India to open doors to the public on Friday after a long gap due to the pandemic, trade experts open up on the challenges facing the industry, safety measures to be taken and plans to bring back moviegoers to theatres.

Cinema halls were given the green signal to open from October 15, as per the guidelines of the Union Home Ministry and the Central government. While screening of films at some of the theatres on Thursday were dedicated to staff and family members, the general public can watch films on the big screen Friday onwards.

Actress Meera Chopra, who once trained with Sushant Singh Rajput in the same gym, has fond memories of the late actor and describes him as a perfect gentleman. At the same time, Meera feels bad about his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty for the way she is being being vilified by sections of media and social media even though the investigation in the case is still going on.

"I don't know Sushant on a personal note. We have had a professional relationship. We used to work out in the same gym a few years back and I started knowing him then. After that we connected on Instagram and would bump into each other at a few award shows," Meera told Ians.

Appealing to minimise the use of loud crackers, Richa, an animal lover, said: "It's important that we take it upon ourselves to protect these animals. Diwali is a harrowing time for them and I make it a point to speak up for them."

"We need to increase social awareness to ensure that people keep their pain in mind. A lot of fun could be had at Diwali without making it painful for pets. I promote a happy, prosperous and noise-free Diwali and sincerely hope that people act responsibly this year."

A very pretty Maharashtrian girl steps out of her humble home to go to her workplace when a neighbour shouts out, ‘Ae Madhuri Dixit.’

In the next ten minutes this girl Anjali, played by the lovely and effective Meera Chopra, will be raped by her boss, an arrogant film director (played with agonizing efficacy by Rahul Bhat) who speaks to his associates on the set as though they were vermins and parasites born to serve and be abused.

In the next five minutes this jerk of a filmmaker will be arrested and tried for rape.

But did he really commit the crime? The question hangs thick in the narrative, circling the tense courtroom drama provocatively, letting us know that when it comes to sexual allegations, nothing is what it seems. Madhur Bhandarkar will vouch for that.

This Friday?s prominent Hindi release is Balaji Motion Pictures? Ayushmann Khurrana-Nusrat Bharucha starrer, Dream Girl. The film is all set to embark on a very good start as it is carrying excellent reports and its trailers, songs have been loved by the public.

Moreover, Ayushmann?s films are having a dream run at the box-office. Other movies listed for release are Sudeep and Suneil Shetty?s dubbed Pehlwaan and Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chaddha?s Section 375 and both are expected to play second fiddle to Dream Girl.

As things stand, Chhichhore is staring at a super hit status, given the reasonable (50 crore) budget.

Actress Richa Chadha feels content-driven cinema is currently getting highlighted in Bollywood because commercial stars and production houses are getting involved in such projects.

"We always used to make content-driven films but now they are getting highlighted because commercial actors and commercial production houses are becoming part of such kind of films and I feel that it's a huge change," Richa said.

Richa Chadha is soon set to star in her first ever action thriller film. The actress who is known to give power packed intense performances and some epic comedic roles will for the first time dabble into the genre of action thriller. While the details of the project are kept under wraps, it is reported that the film will be directed by a debutant director, an Indian residing in the Us. Richa plays an undercover agent and will be required to go through immense training for the film to adapt to the physical demands of the role having to perform her own stunts and do some high intense action sequences.

The film will be in Hinglish and will be shoot in Mumbai and Delhi.
