Hearties did a double take when Edie debuted in Season 12 of When Calls the Heart. They noticed that she looked like another character who’s making her return to Hope Valley.
Uncanny Resemblance
Hearties first learned about Edie (Miranda MacDougall) in Episode 2 of Wcth entitled “You Get What You Give.” Some are remarking that she looks like Fiona Miller (Kayla Wallace). It could be possible that there’s a link between these two ladies.
“I did a double take with the actress Miranda MacDoogle [Sic] and she looks a lot like Kayla Wallce–could be her cousin she looks so similar. Both are lovely women,” the original poster wrote on Reddit.
Hearties are wondering whether this casting was intentional. “I see it! She’s very pretty. They both are,” one Redditor responded. “Oh, I’m sure they’ve considered any and all of the single women. I’m ok with him & Fiona.

Back in 2022, Get Out, Us, and Nope writer/director Jordan Peele‘s production company Monkeypaw Productions acquired the genre film pitch Goat from writers Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, the plan being that Peele would be producing Goat as part of Monkeypaw’s overall deal with Universal Pictures. The sports-related horror project made its way through production under the title Him earlier this year, and now – even though the movie won’t be reaching theatres until September 19, 2025 – the finished product has been given its rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board. Him has been rated R for strong/bloody violence, language throughout, sexual material, nudity and some drug use.

I wanted to have real agency over my career, but it was also not just about me, it’s about who I can work with.”

Study Reveals Most Inclusive Episodic TV Programming; Greg Berlanti, Ava DuVernay Top Producers List
Just in time for Monday’s Emmy awards, the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative and Dr. Stacy L. Smith, along with the the Adobe Foundation, have unveiled The Inclusion List for episodic programming, which recognizes the most inclusive series in broadcast, cable and streaming.
Following a similar effort for films, the list analyzes on-screen and behind-the-camera personnel from more than 500 programs to determine the 100 most inclusive broadcast and cable series from the 2021-22 broadcast season, as well as streaming series from 2021 to 2023. The project also recognizes 20 producers responsible for the most inclusive content.
“The goal of the Inclusion List is to recognize the stories and storytellers who are taking inclusion seriously and whose content reflects their values,” said Dr. Smith, founder of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative. “With today’s release of the Inclusion List for broadcast/cable and streaming series, we are excited to acknowledge the creative voices championing inclusion across the spectrum of episodic content.

Actors Ashli Haynes, Holly Cinnamon, and Kyra Jones are anxious, tired and frustrated that they are still on strike.
It’s been over 120 days since the WGA went on strike and more than 50 days since SAG-AFTRA walked off set, and it has been a major disruption for everyone involved. While talks have resumed between the WGA and the AMPTP, there is still no foreseeable end to the strikes in sight. Film and television productions are paused, and folks out of work are struggling to make ends meet.
Financial struggles and job insecurity always have been a concern for folk on the creative side of the entertainment business, but the strikes have exacerbated these worries. Haynes, Cinnamon and Jones would rather be working, but they believe they need to fight for what is fair, even if it causes them stress and anxiety.

Warning! Mild spoilers for Avengers Forever #13 ahead!
During a conversation with the Wolverine of an alternate future in Avengers Forever #13, the shape-shifter Mystique drops a bombshell, revealing the previously unknown reason behind her long-standing hatred for Logan. Of course, the two have certainly fought on opposite sides many times in the years since readers first saw them clash in Chris Claremont and John Byrne's "Days of Future Past" storyline in Uncanny X-Men. However, being on rival teams is not a sufficient reason on its own for such intense personal enmity.
As revealed in Jason Aaron and Aaron Kuder's Avengers Forever #13, Mystique hates Wolverine because she believes that the two of them are essentially the same, and yet somehow only Mystique has been labeled as a villain. Logan, on the other hand, has long been branded as a hero, and thus enjoyed the karmic benefits of that designation. "Somehow...

How Two Sundance-Winning Films Forecast the Future for Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad Production Company
Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad has much to celebrate in just the first few months of the new year: with two films, “A Thousand and One” and “Kokomo City” winning big at Sundance; the family film “Chang Can Dunk” launching March 10 on Disney+ ; a documentary about Mary Tyler Moore premiering at SXSW; and a sixth season of “The Chi” on the way.
The company, founded by the actor, producer and Emmy-winning writer in 2015, is at a pinnacle moment, but it’s also just getting started.
“Here’s the really interesting part about the next three months, it’s not like we snapped our fingers and got here,” Hillman Grad CEO Rishi Rajani says, as he and Waithe joined Variety for a discussion over Zoom following the announcement of their Sundance wins. “This next three months is the culmination of the last few years of what Hillman Grad has built.”

This review of “Fresh” was originally posted Jan. 21, 2022 from the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
It takes a long, long time before the so-called “opening credits” roll in Mimi Cave’s decadently horrifying directorial debut “Fresh.” That’s probably because, as wonderful as the film’s first act is, we ain’t seen nothing yet.
“Fresh” begins with the latest in what seems to be a long, long line of crappy online dates for Noa. She hates the modern courtship process — and with good cause — but, dang it, it’s the 21st century, and her options seem limited to swiping right and hoping for the best or a lifetime of lousy loneliness.
So it’s something of a shock when she actually meets a real live person, in a real-life grocery store, who shows an interest her and doesn’t seem like a total sack of crap. Steve has great taste in produce.
