The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot cast is coming together in a promising way. We just learned that Golden Globe Award nominee Billy Campbell has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. I wonder who he could be playing in the slasher.

Campbell joins a growing list of actors who have already been announced to be in the cast, such as Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Haur-King.

Freddie Prinze Jr. was announced recently to have officially joined the cast, reprising his role of Ray Bronson from the original film and its 1998 sequel. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brandy Norwood are also in talks to return in their roles as Julie James and Karla Wilson.

Additionally, Bodies Bodies Bodies star Chase Sui Wonders is currently in discussions about joining the cast of the upcoming Sony movie. However, who she will be portraying in the film is unknown.

Freddie Prinze Jr. has joined the cast of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” a sequel to the 1997 horror film in which he starred opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe.

Of the original cast members, Hewitt is in talks to reprise her role as well. Until her contract is finalized, Prinze is set to star alongside Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King. Camila Mendes was supposed to be in the film, but the “Riverdale” actor recently exited the project due to scheduling conflicts.

It’s unclear where the upcoming sequel will pick up, but the original “I Know What You Did Last Summer” follows four teens from a small seaside town stalked by a hook-wielding killer one year after covering up a car accident that was believed to be fatal. The film became a box office success with $125 million globally.

Overseen by Hinojosa, 2Am’s film and TV production division just launched with a Venice Film Festival World Premiere Halina Reijn’s Babygirl—starring Nicole Kidman, Harris Dickinson, and Antonio Banderas. A North American premiere is upcoming at TIFF, as is one for Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist, on which Hinojosa was exec producer. The company is also in post-production on Celine Song’s Materialists, featuring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. Magnante will be based in 2Am’s Los Angeles office with D’Souza Gelb and Julia Nelson. Magnante has produced both film and television, and he spent over a decade at Paul Feig’s Feigco Entertainment.

Gina Rodriguez has joined the Season 3 cast of the ABC drama “Will Trent” as a series regular.

She will play Marion Alba, who is described as a “charismatic, confident assistant district attorney who is new to Atlanta. After her first encounter with Will (Ramón Rodriguez) falls flat, the pair is surprised to learn that they must work together to investigate a crime in the world of Atlanta gangs.”

Rodriguez is best known for leading “Jane the Virgin,” the CW dramedy that ran for five seasons from 2014 to 2019. She also starred in the sitcom “Not Dead Yet” from 2023 to 2024 on ABC, where she still hosts the game show “Lucky 13.” In film, she has starred in Miranda July’s “Kajillionaire,” Catherine Hardwicke’s “Miss Bala” and Alex Garland’s “Annihilation,” as well as Netflix movies including “Players,” “Spy Kids: Armageddon” and “Someone Great.” She is repped by WME and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Alex Moffat is joining the cast of Off Broadway’s The Big Gay Jamboree, the much-anticipated follow-up from Marla Mindelle, co-author and original star of the wildly popular musical comedy Titaníque.

Moffat will appear alongside the previously announced Mindelle, as well as newly announced Paris Nix, Constantine Rousouli (a Titaníque co-creator and original cast member), and Natalie Walker, with Jaden Dominique, Brad Greer, Jeremiah Ginn, Amanda Lee, Jillian Mueller, Olivia Puckett, Melvin Tunstall, Clyde Voce, Cortney Wolfson, and John Yi rounding out the ensemble.

The revival of I Know What You Did Last Summer is appropriately set to hit theaters in the dead of summer.

Sony Pictures announced Thursday that its new film with the same name as the original 1997 slasher flick is set for theatrical release domestically on July 18, 2025. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) is directing the sequel from a screenplay she co-wrote with Sam Lansky after an initial script from Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz produces the film.

The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. were in talks to reprise their roles from the first movie that hit theaters Oct. 17, 1997.

Also scheduled for release on July 18, 2025, is Paramount’s Naked Gun reboot from director Akiva Schaffer that features Liam Neeson as bumbling detective Frank Drebin.

“I mean, I’ve done a bunch of stuff on my little hiatus from ‘Stranger Things,'” Hawke joked to IndieWire during a recent interview. “I’m going to sneak in under the wire before I go back to do more ‘Stranger Things.’ I love working. I’m definitely a workaholic. I love my job.”

That job also includes roles opposite her mother Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson in “Kill Room,” joining the ensemble cast for Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City,” and starring alongside director Bradley Cooper for Leonard Bernstein biopic “Maestro.

Some people look back at their high school years with a certain wistfulness; others couldn’t be paid to revisit that particular stretch of adolescence… thank you very much.

Filmmaker Jennifer Kaytin Robinson falls squarely in the latter category, though she admits she’s at least partially to blame for the bad memories.

“I was a bitch,” she says with the kind of laugh that only comes after years of self-reflection. “I was unhappy, so that came out by me paying that unhappiness forward. I love my family… but they can only do so much.”

Do Revenge stars Riverdale’s Camila Mendes and Stranger Things’ Maya Hawke as two high school students who’ve had their social lives ruined by their respective loose-lipped exes. Maya Hawke leads Netflix dark comedy “Do Revenge” alongside Camila Mendes, about popular high schooler Drea (Mendes) who seeks retaliation against her ex-boyfriend (Austin Abrams of “Euphoria” fame) after a very public sexting scandal. Enter: Eleanor, played by Hawke, who also has a score to settle involving a rumor she tried to “hold down” another classmate and kiss her.

“I know what it’s like to get fucked over by someone you thought you could trust,” Hawke says in the candy-colored trailer reminiscent of “Thoroughbreds.”

In “Thor: Love & Thunder,” however, he and co-writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Someone Great”) attempt to balance that jokey tone with themes and plot points that would feel more at home in an Ingmar Bergman film, and the results cancel each other out, leaving many of the surface pleasures of an MCU movie but also a nagging sensation that none of this quite works.

When she lands the only job she can find – writing obituaries – Nell starts getting life advice from an unlikely source. The pilot is based on the Alexandra Potter book “Confessions of a Forty-Something F*** Up.”
