I found it boring. I watched up to 3rd or 4th episode and bailed. The big baddie was too juvenile and cocky to make a credible bad guy. Some redeeming qualities include the well played character who was enamoured of vampires. I got a bit tired of the punk trope for the good guys, but I get that it's part of the down trodden neighbourhood. I did not find i worthwhile because the series was taking too much time not only moving the understandable parts of the story along, but also filling in the back story with explanation rather than filler.

This could have been something really cool and new, however it seems like the creators were so focused on it looking like a hollywood production that it loses any originality and creativity.
Yes, the story is set in Istanbul however I couldn't help but feel it was in Newyork or Seattle, it's like they completely ignored the Turkish culture! Why would I watch this series when I can watch another American series, at least then it would be somewhat original.
Finally, I certainly did not like how it objectified women and how inappropriate and insensitive some parts were.

I think this is the first Vampire story I have seen (not that I have seen them all) that had humans who wished to become vampires and also pushed back against the violence of humans vs the violence of vampires. I liked that part, and I also enjoy foreign languages when I can take time to watch the subtitles. The acting, however, left a lot to be desired. Almost everyone was too young, and Kerem Bürsin did not do a good job of acting in this. He was mostly just posturing the entire time trying to be cool. I looked him up finally, and it looks like he fell back on his modeling chops and "vogued" it up here. I'm not sure whether to fault the director or the actors, as I don't recall seeing any of them elsewhere. I stuck it out because I really enjoyed the Turkish Super Hero in The Protector also on Netflix, which was head and shoulders above this one as far as being watchable.

A series hyped by the Turkish Community that you can use to fall asleep. Most annoying and stupid series ever.
I enjoyed it so much and Dimitry was a very good character. All and all, I loved the series and enjoy it. I watched all the episode in raw and I saw a lot of good cinematography here and the actors did amazing work.

I love Kerem Bürsin and he played a very appealing vampire. It's the first non drama Turkish series I've watched and I believe that it has a lot of potential. It was a bit boring and the ending was bad. The show is called Immortals but in the end the immortals are killed, it doesn't make sense. I would love to see Mia (Elçin Sangu) bring Dmitry back to life. More CGI, I mean it is a show about vampires. Honestly I only finished watching the show because of Kerem. His Alpha Male character was on point but I don't get the storyline. Even though the chemistry was there, there was very little action.

You have to watch it.. I just finished watching first episode and it's awesome... it's like watching American series but in Turkish. Great job!!! The actors are really good...their act seems natural they fit on the role... I can't wait for the next episodes! A personal note: if you are not an open-mind you can't watch this...stay at old type!!! #Yasamayanlar is the future of turkish industry...something new to try

It's way premature for me to write any accurate or thorough review of this series, as I've only just now finished episode 4 of 8, but I wanted to put a word in about the cast as well as the dubbing.
The cast appears to do an excellent job, overall. There are a few misses, even a major one such as the leader of the Istanbul vampires, Dimitri, who is far too over-the-top and self-absorbed for my taste, but by-and-large this cast shines through convincingly.
The movie is filmed in their native Turkish language (forgive my ignorance; I have not researched what this language or dialect would be called), and subtitled. Additionally, someone decided to take the time and invest in the expense to have the entire scripts dialogue dubbed in English.
From writing to portrayal everything was just worse ! The female actress elcin was a fan of her but idk what happened in this series maybe it's the poor writing or direction !

Yeap, dispite the potentially interesting story setting and a backdrop of east-meets-west Istanbul, every character in the series is a plot hole. EVERYONE! I can see the main actors n actress have done well to portrait their characters, but simply put, none of the characters make sense there. The final twist even made me laugh. Female vengeance should be much, much deeper in description.
Come to my senses, it doesn't look like a compelling battle between humans n vams. It's pretty much just a gang fight between 2 underground nightclubs.

It looks like a parody. I opened it with high hopes but now it looks so bad. Every 4 word of 3 is cursing .I watched 30 minutes of it , I can say that the producer watched to many turkish dubbed movies. Cast is good but story telling is 0/10. Seriously funny show.

If you like The Protector or want a similar tone of a fierce group traversing through Istanbul on a quest for something...check it out!
It starts off slow, picks up a little bit then leaves you wanting to know so much more that it doesn't deliver! Huge disappointment but an enjoyable journey. Sure, the women are probably unrealistically beautiful but they add to the sexiness of a modern interpretation of vampires that you find these days, no big deal. Pure, sexy, evil ones just out to get the job done, no extra sparkles or heavy romance.
One particular feature you'll notice is that the show almost entirely showcases Istanbul at night...the grungy, trashy underworld of alleys, thugs and no tourist sights. However Americanized or inauthentic it seems to be, it's a depiction that really shines through the darkness, so to speak, and fuels the vengeful vibe of the plot.
I'm always drawn to a stylized story, flaws and all, with hotties on a hunt. Check it out if you want the usual bloodiness and a cultural twist on a vampire tale. Plus, if you speak or study any Turkish, you'll learn plenty of bad words and vulgarities, so just enjoy it!

EFFING AWESOME!
As the first Turkish vampire series, Yasamayanlar is a great example of how a classic myth should be adapted into a different culture.

Looks like a very bad adaptation of American series. Vampires in Istanbul?! It doesn't even makes sense...Casting is good but the scenario and the visuals are definitely not believable. Show doesn't blend with the Turkish culture.

I recommend you to give it try with open mind and watch this. Also set a timer, how long your suspension of disbelief will last.
Where to start? Anyway, here is long list.
Editing: It is the worst. Pacing is all over the place. It requires patience to sit through an episode. Not to mention finishing entire season. You have to get a medal for watching the entire season.
Story: There is nothing new about it or any new places to go with it. Dialogues are often non-existent, it is more like pointless monologues. Also lots of slang language. It really puts you off. Also profanity does not look cool or appropriate.
Acting: It is related with script, there is not great lines to play. Some of these actors A list actors working in local market. Even A list talent can't save it.
World Building: Lazy. Visual language is like out 90s Vampire movies. It wants to be Blade, Underworld and many more. Unfortunately cant. There is also Engineer head in the night club. I guess it is somewhat related with Alien franchise as well.
Mystery/Horror: There is a lot Vampire content out there good, mediocre and bad. For some reason this fails to capture the essential of the night creatures. It is a miracle how it is possible to do it. Even tv series like Vampire Diaries and teen drama franchises like Twilight movies exist and even though some don't like it, they have something to say. This series has nothing to say. It does not treat creatures right, it does not treat humans right. So, why bother doing it?
Visuals: DOP did great job in some areas. It is the reason why some mistakes really puts people off. There was camera pan shot, which had tremendous amount of jitter. It is easy to solve by shortening the scene in edit. Or not use it at all. Nobody cared and they kept this shot in.
Action: There is little action and very rare.
Sound Design/Mixing: It is very bad and dialogues are not clear. Often comes out as muddled.
How to salvage?
If editor was brave enough to cut %80 percent of lack luster scenes. This can be a tolerable feature to watch. Also additional ADR needs to be done for dialogue.
There is one proof of concept music video done early. Reason why it works is; it is short. It does not drag. But this drags and drags so much and there is nothing worthwhile to watch.
Purpose of this review is to point out for shortcomings of title. Almost all audience or everyone wants watch a good film or tv show when they sit through. Nobody wants to slam or give bad word of mouth to your title. The reason there is bad reviews here is because there is lack of respect to audience and this series shows no respect to your intellect.
Can someone figure out how or why Netflix got to rights?

My first Turkish viewing. Probably should have been just a movie (vice series) as it got worst and worst. Acting not bad; low budget action and saved a lot on scenes with blood, sigh. Watched entire series which I normally wouldn't do if the script kept getting more ridiculous. Definitely understand why only one season; shocked it wasn't reduced to mini series.
Hope I get a chance for second viewing of a Turkish Show as I don't want this to be my first/last opinion, LOL.
