According to a video on TikTok, a diehard Taylor Swift fan was hoping to draw Travis Kelce’s eye in the VIP area. Travis had made a “surprise” appearance (if they can be considered that at this point) at Taylor’s show.

Taylor Swift might have started off as a country singer way back in 2005, but today the singer has garnered such an influence and fan following that many believe she even has the power to affect the US Presidential elections to some degree. While that might have quite worked out, there is no denying that the singer is one of the biggest names of her time.

Beard is headed to the Nice International Film Festival as an actor with his film Fluxx. Beard has also been cast in the film Blood Behind Us. Past projects on camera include We Summon the Darkness opposite Alexandra Daddario and Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Til Dawn.

Upcoming indie genre pic Violence, described as an “operatic punk rock thriller,” has found its leads in Halloween Ends‘ Rohan Campbell and Malignant‘s Maddie Hasson, Deadline reports today.

Connor Marsden is set to direct the thriller from a script written by Marsden, William Woods, and Devin Myler.

Violence is “set in an alternate 1980s, we find our anti-hero Henry Violence caught in the middle of an intensifying drug war.”

The ’80s set thriller will be scored by NOWHERE2RUN, comprised of members of the two-time Grammy Award-nominated band Code Orange.

Exclusive: Paramount’s genre division Paramount Players has tapped Night Teeth and I See You filmmaker Adam Randall to direct the horror pic Curfew.

The former Blood List entry follows a rebellious teenage girl who is sent to stay with her grandmother in a sleepy town whose quirky traditions include a curfew banning anyone from going out at night. When the girl ventures out after dark she discovers the murky truth behind the town’s mysterious history.

Randall told us: “This is a fun monster movie that harks back to Amblin movies of yore. There is an intriguing conflict between the teenage girl and the older generations but it also has the thrills and action of a monster movie. It’s a great script.”

Script comes from Isa Mazzei (Cam). Jaki Bradley and Kevin Armento did previous revisions. Dick Grunert wrote the original spec that made it onto the 2017 Blood List.

With “Malignant,” James Wan reminds us that no matter how many billion-dollar mainstream movies he directs (two and counting), he’s still a super kooky horror auteur whose biggest influences are Ozploitation, Italian supernatural thrillers and good old-fashioned scuzz cinema.

"A life's worth of hearing crammed into just one month." Hulu has revealed the first trailer for a new film called The Ultimate Playlist of Noise, marking the first feature from filmmaker Bennett Lasseter. This emotional teen drama is about a boy named Marcus, an audio obsessed high school senior who learns he must undergo brain surgery that will leave him deaf. So he decides to seize control of his fate by recording the "Ultimate Playlist of Noise" - a selection of all of his favorite sounds. The film stars Keean Johnson as Marcus, Madeline Brewer as the girl with the eyes, along with Ariela Barer, Ian Gomez, Oliver Cooper, Emily Skeggs, and Carol Mansell. Well this looks better than expected, I must say. It's cute and charming, and filled with wonderful sounds galore. We Summon The Darkness (2019)

Alexandra Daddario stars in this rollicking Satanic panic horror thriller, about a trio of female heavy metal fans who, during an after party in a secluded mansion, dabble in deviltry and literally raise Hell. At one point Daddario says to a man telling her to be careful, “You don’t think we can fend for ourselves?” You go girl!

The 2020 BloodList is here, and this year, it focuses on its Fresh Blood, which showcases unrepresented and undiscovered writers.

The projects, the topics ranging from zombie horror to hitchhiking to bio-tech, were chosen out of 457 submissions that were received via the BloodList’s free submission system. It even includes a script about that is inspired by the real-life unsolved mystery of Bella in the Wych Elm in the U.K.

The BloodList is an annual list of the best unproduced screenplays and pilots of the year. It was created in 2009 by Kailey Marsh, who is a manager and producer at Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Some of the most popular produced scripts that have appeared on the annual BloodList over the years include “Arrival,” “Birdbox,” “The Shallows,” The Autopsy of Jane Doe,” “Warm Bodies,” “We Summon the Darkness” and the upcoming “Wally’s Wonderland” starring Nicolas Cage. Last year, Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling” topped the list.

Defining a successful movie release has been a fraught task lately due to the coronavirus pandemic, as premium theatrical films shift to digital debuts and massive blockbusters get kicked down the calendar.

Thanks to a few transparent scoreboards like the iTunes store, however, the industry can see plainly when a hit is a hit. Last weekend, the Saban Films release “The Silencing” made a lot of noise as the top rental in the country, at the attractive price point of $6.99. A movie constantly finding itself among the Top 10 most-watched titles on Netflix is by no means an indicator of quality, with the list of features that have proved hugely popular with subscribers over the last few months running the entire spectrum from critically acclaimed favorites to arguably the worst of the year.

Extraction, Da 5 Bloods, The Old Guard and most recently, Project Power all found big success after becoming available on Netflix, and they fully deserved their spots after proving to be gripping and massively entertaining entries in their respective genres. However, The Last Days of American Crime and steamy Polish thriller 365 Dni also found themselves among the most popular movies that Netflix had to offer, and yet both of them hold the rare and unwanted distinction of a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Netflix provides an opportunity for many overlooked films to get a new lease on life, from comedies to action movies. The latest picture to get the Netflix bump is We Summon the Darkness, which since being added to the platform a few days ago is already number 6 on the Top 10 most-watched films list. Why, then, is this title doing so well with subscribers?

Marc Meyers is behind the camera on We Summon the Darkness and his film is set at the tail-end of the 1980s heavy metal craze, focusing on Alexis, Beverley and Val, who meet up with some guys on the way to a concert. Shortly after, the female trio invite them back to a remote country house where things rapidly get out of control.

With theaters still mostly closed due to Covid-19 and normal business not likely to resume anytime soon, Netflix‘s position within the movie industry has become much more important. This marks a big shift, as multiplex chains make top-down decisions on what films to screen, whereas Netflix can put almost anything up and watch how their audience responds to it. This has helped some smaller titles gain way more attention than they ordinarily would, with an excellent example being tense indie horror What Keeps You Alive.

For the first time in a while, Netflix is adding no new titles today, so let’s instead take the opportunity to recap what’s gone up on the streaming site over the past week, from Saturday, August 1st to Saturday, August 8th. Netflix added two new films today. The first is a Christian Bale-starring period piece set in the Ottoman Empire titled The Promise, the other an Alexandra Daddario-led horror movie called We Summon the Darkness. And here’s what you need to know in case you want to check either one, or even both of them out at some point this weekend.

The Promise first released in 2016. It’s directed by Terry George and based on a script he wrote alongside Robin Swicord. Aside from Bale, who plays a supporting character, the film also stars Oscar Isaac, Charlotte Le Bon, Daniel Giménez Cacho, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Marwan Kenzari.

The Netflix conveyer belt of content seems inexhaustible and keeping up with everything new on just this one streaming network is practically impossible. However, there’s a new movie being added today that’s certainly worth your time. I’m talking We Summon the Darkness, a seriously cool recent horror film that may well have passed you by.

Directed by My Friend Dahmer‘s Marc Meyers, We Summon the Darkness plunges deep into the world of late 1980s heavy metal. We follow Alexis, Val and Beverley, three young women on their way to a metal festival. Things take an ominous turn, however, when they encounter three guys and invite them back to their secluded country home for fun sexy times. From there? Well, I don’t want to spoil it, but it might not take the path you assume it will.

It sounds kinda trashy, but Meyers’ direction elevates it...

Netflix have added a lot of new content for August already, whilst continuing to draw big audiences for returning original series like The Umbrella Academy and divisive but popular movie The Kissing Booth 2. For the week of August 3rd to August 9th, the streaming platform are releasing even more, with Guillermo del Toro’s Wizards: Tales of Arcadia on the way, as well as timely documentary Immigration Nation and many other titles in what’s looking to be another busy week for the company.

Wizards is the third in del Toro’s successful trilogy of CGI science-fiction series for Netflix, following on from Trollhunters and 3Below, which have collectively produced five seasons of episodes to date. The respective series all focus on supernatural events in the small town of Arcadia Oaks, with the new outing moving the action to medieval Camelot. Wizards will be available to watch from August 7th.

Netflix is out with its list of everything coming and going in August, and the list includes Season 5 of “Lucifer” and a new film starring Jamie Foxx called “Project Power.”

Other highlights include the 1991 “The Addams Family” movie; “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet; “Jurassic Park” and “Jurassic Park III,” and the 1979 version of “Mad Max,” to name a few.

Netflix original series include season three of “The Rain,” and “Selling Sunset,” a new cartoon called “Hoops,” and the “Game On: A Comedy Crossover Event” featuring characters from “Mr. Iglesias,” “Family Reunion,” “The Big Show Show” and “Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love” — including Eva Longoria.

Netflix has often had a reputation for being better for TV than movies, but lately has been more than rectifying this. Its library of quality horror and genre entertainment will once again be expanding in August as well, with several new titles being added throughout the month.

First up, 1Br sees a young woman looking for a new start move to Los Angeles and into an apartment complex populated by friendly people who seem to buck the trend of L.A.’s isolationist lifestyle. Netflix‘s new releases for August 2020 should be a hell of a good time.

How else are we supposed to describe the month that features the long-awaited arrival of Lucifer season 5? Yes, ol’ Lucy finally returns on August 21 for what is now the penultimate season of the show.

While Lucifer is the main highlight of Netflix’s original offerings on August, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some other intriguing options to stream. The Rain season 3 arrives on August 6, Wizards: Tales of Arcadia on August 7, and Teenage Bounty Hunters on August 14. That’s not even to mention a potential blockbuster movie in the form of the Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt starring Project Power.

In August, Netflix also continues its high-profile poaching of other worthwhile properties as well. August sees the arrival of both The Legend of Korra and Cobra Kai, opening up two worthwhile series to an even wider streaming audience.

Netflix is adding a seriously impressive line-up of content across August. In a bid to keep you indoors and out of the sun, the streaming giant has got a wide range of titles coming to its library next month, including various highly-anticipated original movies and TV shows, as well as countless beloved films that are being added – or are returning – to the site.

We’ve previously had a couple of updates on what to expect in August, but this is the full official list of everything that’s due on Netflix over the course of next month. As we already knew, some of the highlights include Jamie Foxx superhero vehicle Project Power and the fifth and penultimate season of DC’s Lucifer. We Summon the Darkness: As someone who lived through the Satanic Panic of the ’80s and early ’90s, Marc Myers’ ode to heavy metal lifestyles, We Summon the Darkness, was 100 percent my jam. A brutal and surprising bloodbath that managed to subvert any expectations I had going into it, We Summon the Darkness may stumble a bit here and there tonally, but ultimately delivers a wickedly fun time all the same.
